-- IRSyncing in Windows 2000 (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=11021)
To the best of my knowledge, IRSyncing in Windows 2000 is pretty difficult since Windows 2000 does not support the creation of virtual IR serial ports.
I have heard of a certain IRCOMM app (not sure of the name - I think its german), but haven't been able to locate it.
At one point, I installed a Palm Desktop Updater found at palm.com (for Palm-branded PDAs). It supported IRSyncing, but naturally disabled the USB function of HotSync.
Does anyone know of a viable solution to this problem?
Does the Palm Desktop 4.0 software add this feature?
Any info would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Jeff
IR hotsync
You can successfully hot sync to IR in win2000 with the Palm updater, but you lose USB syncing (see other posts for info)
For $20 , get the travel cable, the speed of IR syncing sucks@
IR/USB/Desktop4.0/Win2000
USB/Infrared w/Windows2000
To get the USB and IR working with Windows 2000 and the new desktop 4.0 with the Visor Prism:
1) Install the new desktop from Palm
2) Use the Visor desktop, and install ONLY hotsync, not anything else
3) USB will now work with the new desktop
4) Download and install the Palm desktop updater from Palm at
http://www.palm.com/support/downloa...mdt_update.html
5) Go to HotSync Manager and click IR
6) HotSync via IR
7) This is totally non-supported, but works great.
