This may have been beaten to death earlier but I noticed the Graphite DLX I bought at CompUSA yesterday came with a premium metal stylus. The one I bought a month ago from the same store did not.

I've noticed the same things on the ones I've sold. I think it has something to do with the date the Visor was actually manufactured, but I'm not sure..

Question

my question is:

do they at least match up the green metal stylus with the Green VDx and the black with the Graphite, etc???

I just bought a couple of Handspring Visors for my friends recently at the New York and Boston CompUSAs.

Yeah, all the newer Visors come with the metal stylus. The black one comes with a black stylus while the coloured ones all come with an Ice coloured stylus.

This is actually fine, cuz the back of the Visors are Ice coloured anyway.

Oh yeah, I also opened a Blue Visor Deluxe box before I bought the Green one and the Blue one had the old crappy plastic stylus.

I guess the Blue one was slightly older stock, so it came with the plastic stylus.

The I guess the conclusion is: Make sure you buy a Visor with the metal stylus!

I bought my BVD mid march this year, I just got a replacement. Both had Metal Stylii(Ice first then graphite on the replacement).I liked the graphite better because it complements color of the backup module. I noticed one thing though, the reset pin on the Ice Metal Stylus is a lot sturdier than the one on the Graphite one. Naybody noticed this too?

great, so basically by buying a bvd back in November, I got stuck with the cheap plastic stylus.

that's what I get for buying early! way to go, handspring.

had to buy their stylus five-pack to get a decent stylus.

Yeah but then they replaced cracked screens for free so I think you had a better deal.

I think this sucks. I took a gamble (guess the phrase fits) on Handspring and I get a cheap, crappy stylus that I have to pay to upgrade. Now that they'v realized that they've made a mistake, they're making good with all the new buyers, but those of us who've supported them from day 1 have to pay to have a good stylus. Nice.

Unless the Springboards start making an appearance soon and Handspring's next model (color?) starts off on the right foot, I'm heading back to Palm.

It's called a design change. Get over it.

Man,

Who would think that people would get upset over Handspring improving their design. Would it be better if they did not learn from their mistakes?

IF you are going to be an early adopter, be prepared to get bured, simple as that. I knew all along that by buying the device before it hit retail I would in effect be beta testing for handspring.

I am happy that they improved thier product, now when all the regular consumers (ie non tech people with zero idea of how to find info on the internet) go out there and buy a unit they get a better expierence, and handspring gets their money and continues to grow and improve.

All in all a stylus is a minor improvment, think of the day that they announce a flash rom version, or a better screen?

Thus is the nature of technology

I think they are just upset because they are not part of the improvement. I just bought my first PDA, a Blue Visor Deluxe 5 days ago and mine came with a great ICE metal stylus. They will get over it I'm sure.
