My girlfriend's VDX suddenly stopped being able to hotsync last week. I hotsync on the same computer with the same cradle and it continues to work fine with my VDX, so the problem can't be with the cradle/USB connection/my computer etc. When I try to sync I get the "Connecting to desktop" message for about a minute and then an error message saying cannot connect to desktop etc. etc.
To be thorough I've
1. tried a different cradle and computer and these continue to work fine for my VDX and not hers, and
2. compared the setup in the hotsync "Options" menu (Modem Sync Prefs, LANSync Prefs, etc) between our two machines and they're identical.

Any ideas?

Try a soft reset. If that doesn't work try a warm reset (hold the up scroll hardware button while resetting).
