QUALITY FM Portable Radio Suggestion Needed!

Hi All,

I'm in the market for a quality FM Radio. I commute to work and need some form of music when I'm on the bus. I don't like using mp3 players because I don't have the time to keep loading new songs on the device. I also get tired of listening to the same songs over and over and I like listening to Howard in the morning.

Anyway, can anyone recommend a good FM radio? I'd like it to be digital and small. There are some very small mp3 players out there, so I'm sure there's gotta be a good FM radio.

I also wouldn't mind it if it had AM stations (for baseball and football games).

Small FM Radio

I remember seeing an in-line FM radio that was integrated as part of the hands-free headset at either a Sprint Store or Circuit City. I wish I remember where I saw it, because it would be an ideal solution for my needs(if it also had AM). I don't want to carry a seperate MP3 player, and the in-line radio would turn off during phone calls. I haven't seen it since that first time, but if the interface is right, it would be a very convenient solution.

I have tried those "integrated" fm radios with the handsfree and they plain suck. First the display is an analog dial rather then lcd digital. Also, you have to use it with the phone.

I am currently using a Nokia 6590 and have a Nokia HDD-1 Dual Headset adaptor which works VERY well. The only problem is that it does not have bluetooth.

SO, I'm upgrading to the Siemens S55 (not released yet) which has bluetooth, tri-band, color, MMS, and very small, but no FM radio. This is the reason I'm looking for a simple SMALL FM radio...

Okay, I've done some more digging, and found two potential candidates:

Sony SRF-M95

Aiwa CR-LD100

What do you all think? I'm leaning towards the Sony just because the sony products that I have owned have been bulletproof and lasted a long time, however it is more expensive.

Has anyone used either of these before? Anyone know of any other products that are similar to the two above?

RadioShack has a few digital portable radios - their products have always held up quite well for me.

One even lets you listen in on TV broadcasts and NOAA weather radio - $70.

Go Aiwa

I've had a tiny Aiwa FM-only receiver for about 15 years and still use it regularly. Of your two options, the Sony seems too thick/deep. I'd go with the Aiwa, although make sure you get a good deal on the model you propose: the lastest version is here: http://www.us.aiwa.com/default.asp?...ct&prod=342

Sangean

Sangean makes some very small radios that have gotten good reviews in Monitoring Times, they also got an award from WRTH a few years back for making quality products that average people can afford. I think Sangean is also the manufacturer of the excellant but large Crane C.C. radio. See http://www.sangean.com/pocket.html for more on the very small radios.
I have a Samsung yp-700H mp3 player that is very small and can store 256mb of music which gets me about 10 hours using Windows Media files, and more importantly, they sell one with a radio built into the remote control, though I have never used that model.

all-in-one

I have an iRiver SlimX IMP-350 and I love it

It is a CD-MP3 player (plays CD's and CD's with MP3 files on them)
and has an FM tuner

on amazon.com I think its only about $120

its probably a bit bigger than you are looking for, but it has a tiny remote and you can keep the cd player in your pocket and tune with the remote

a family member got the water resistant Phillips digital radio for christmas. it's branded under the Nike name....sorry, no link, but i;'m pretty sure i saw it at best buy. it's pretty nice, i might get one!
