-- Thinmodem+ hot under the collar (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=13985)
Has anyone else noticed how warm the Thinmodem+ gets when in use? After about 20 minutes online, the module is very warm to the touch, and I notice it making my screen darker (LCDs work by heating the liquid crystal to change it to black. The top part of my screen in front of the Springboard slot gets noticably darker than the bottom). I suppose I am not too worried about damage to either the module or my Visor, just thought I would ask.

Wherever you go, there you are.
This heat is normal, and will vary slightly depending on the phone line you are connected to (varies with distance from Phone Company Central Office, Phone company's battery voltage, line impedance, etc., etc.).
In the thousands of Thinmodem users out there, and with our internal testing, we have never seen or heard of a case of damage, melting, etc., as the Thinmodem casing is designed to tolerate this.
For a very technical explanation of what is going on, see our previous post on this subject on this thread:

As I said, I wasn't too worried about damage, and things have functioned fine. Thanks for the reassurance.

I'd like to become one of those thousands of users, but according to PalmGear, the TM+ is currently backordered.
