-- My Edge isn't working!!! (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=18673)
Toby, everybody, we gotta lose the edge
I've come to my conclusion, I'm going to email Handspring and ask them to replace it with another handheld. I don't want to reset my Edge twice a week. I don't want to lose any important data. I don't want to talk bad about Handspring. All I want is a reliable PDA that will work all the time. I've had the Edge for about two months now and I've pretty much lost all my confidence in it.
Have you guys also realized how the little stylus holster unscrews itself? I've already lost the screw. Just a number of defects.
I've also waited for that damn keyboard to come out, still hasn't happened. This is not cool.

To run down your battery, go to memo pad, create a new memo and Grafitti in a "Shortcut" (The fish-looking thing), a period, and then a 3. A message will appear saying [AUTO-OFF] and the Visor will not turn off until you turn it off manually. Reset it to normal operation by doing a soft reset or by going into prefs and changing the auto shut off time to something else. [...]
. 3, then one probably wouldn't be experiencing the same problem.

Nope, I'm dead serious. I jacked my wife's prism until I decide on a replacement device (this thing's a brick!) and have a buyer for the refurb. $300 with the hard case and pen stylus. HS customer support has a 10-15 minute wait right now, so I'm sitting on my thumb.

I'm leaning toward a neo, if only because it has everything my edge did. I even have the rechargeable batteries for it. And at $200, I'll have enough left over to buy a keyboard. In fact, the more I think about it, the more it sounds like a good idea. HS's reputation has still been taken down a notch in my estimation, though. I might go with a Palm m50x.
Regardless, at least I'll know I'm not buying a dead end device - which is the impression I've been getting from HS regarding the edge.

Honestly, go for the Handera. It's cheap. CF is fast. Voice Recording. Jog Dial. And so on.

[B]At this point, it isn't looking positive for a Handspring device. I turned the thing off after the hard reset last night and stuck it into my backpack to call tech support this morning. It was fully charged (according to the charging LED when I took it out of the cradle).
I have the same problem - the PDA "thinks" its charged, but it's not and "realizes" this as soon as I press a function key. It's aggravating because it makes it almost impossible to charge effectively. Handspring has been little or no help.
