-- Screen Protectors II (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=8115)
We all know that the objective of a screen protector is to protect your investment.
But how many think the prices of screen protectors are ridiculous? What is a
reasonable price? and what types of protection would you like a screen protector
give to your instrument?

3) Most importantly, please close this (latest) thread. I would suggest either a separate forum just for SP's or, failing that, one for Warman bashing.

Do files get embarrassed when they get unzipped?
Hrmmm...
Being a fairly new visor user, I would say that I would pay somewhere along the lines of $15, I would expect a package I bought for $15 to last me from 3-6 months I guess.
I'm not sure how durable these things are, considering it depends on amount of use. I've heard they cost less than a dollar or so a piece to make, so I would be willing to pay $15 for 6 or so of them.
I would prefer to pay extra for a Visor with scratchproof glass rather than be forced to buy screen protectors all the time. I think I would be willing to pay $30 for that. In other words, I would be willing to pay $280 for a completely scratchproof visor.

Isn't this like asking how much you'd be willing to pay for a car? It's all subjective, isn't it?
Anyways, I think I paid $13 for WriteRights. Will I buy them again? Maybe. I may try the clear ones next.
Would I make my own? Probably not...I'm too lazy.
I agree, a scratch-proof screen would much more appealing that more screen protectors.

I don't think Handspring would want to package their Visor with screen protectors. It would be a bad marketing move to point out a flaw in your product. Imagine a bicycle tire manufacturer including a package of 10 patches with their product. Sure, you'll get a flat one day (as you will get a scratch on your screen one day) but to push this weakness in such an 'in your face' method would definately result in some consumers thinking twice about your product.
I wouldn't want that if i was selling something.

I, personally, do not need nor do I use screen protectors. I've had my GVD for over 6 months with hardly a mark on the screen.
I would think that "Handsprings"(sic) would be perceived as peddling an inferior product if they packaged protectors with the Visor. I would shy away from a company who thought to bundle a "fix" for their product, instead of putting a permanent fix to the product itself. (As I said, I do not have this problem with my Visor, so I don't think there is a need for protectors, in my case)
To Ed!
I find it shocking that I post a link to a site regarding Mr. Warman, and it is deleted.
But, it is okay for Mr. Warman to post a link directly to his site?
My post said nothing negative and was certainly not a flame. Just a link to provide people with information regarding Mr. Warmans product. Basically what Mr. Warman did in his first post. A link with information regarding his own product.
Seems like the moderators might need to think before they censor.

In another instance: When they sell covers for their visor is that not saying some kind
of protection is needed?

I agree, he was just looking for an excuse to post his website URL. Which is why I posted mine.
When has Mr. Warman every been interested in what we have to say. And why would he ask us to help him? He never listens to anything people say regarding his business.

On topic response-yes, prices are too high. They should be (near) free.
OK. Now. Indeed Ryan. Exactly why I jumped in first in response to this shamelessness. If this ignorant poster would ever figure out that we re-double our boycott efforts both here and on the other NG's everytime he spews he'd lose less business!

2. Does anyone look for impact protection regarding a screen protector?
STOP bashing warman, this is the first time he has said something of importance and i think we should hear him out. He does sell screen protectors, (were not talking about what he does to other companies), and he asked a very good question. We do not punish him for trying to help us, and yes he is trying to help, otherwise he wouldnt have asked about price. he is obviously thinking about lowering his prices or possibly suggesting things to companies like handspring.
moving on-yes, i think that screen protectors are too expensive, that is why i dont use them even though i should. i for one actually like the texture of the writewrites but hate the price. i havent tried making my own (im worried i could damage the visor).
i agree, as much as i would like to see handspring include screen protectors, its probably not a good idea.
"inventorb", what do you mean by impact protection?
