The tracking bill for mine shows that it departed Quincy, IL (where the package originated) at 8PM on the 19th. Of course, your mileage may vary.

Smile Flip Lid

I just recieved my Flip Lid and it works as advertized. The clip is a secure fit that I don't believe will not come off accidently. The lid stands off appoximately 3/16 of an inch. I got the green lid and it is more of a lime green which is lighter in color than my VDX. Overall, I love the the lid and I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a replacement for the stock cover that comes with the Visor. I will replace the Palm lid with the Visor specfic lid when it comes available. The $1.00 off coupon that Tactilis includes is a great incintive for other people to continue to patronize them.

I can't believe Handspring sent these out with black covers.

Hi dadimar,

Sorry for the delayed response, I've been pretty busy here and haven't been reading all threads. You're right, actually the majority of people who own a Visor don't even own a module.

A few people in this thread have had some concerns about 'gluing' stuff to the module. Well, if your springboard slot is empty this isn't a problem. The FlipCover adapter is only for current module owners who missed the oppurtunity to benefit from our and ATL's partnership. I won't go into the tech specs of the 3M adhesive tape, but if you're interested in the adapter or have ques / doubts then you can drop me an email or post a ques.

Take Care,

Z

Cool Hmm...I think I like the Tactilis contraption better

My $0.02:

It would appear to me that Z's Flip-cover is rather limited to a standard module only. But even with standard modules, I could forseen some limitations. I'm sure there's a lot of people who only has standard size module or no modules at all. I only have an 8mb compact flash module and a back-up module. I frequently back-up my data. I just think that pulling my 8mb module out with the Flip-cover attached, putting the Flip-cover+hinge+module into my pocket, inserting the back-up module and wait for the back-up, but now I don't have a cover for my visor. Then repeat the process to re-insert the Flip-cover+hinge+module. I don't know, but personally I just think that it'll be a hassle.

look. it's simple as this. we now (or will soon) have 2 different types of flip covers for the visor. each of them have their own advantages and disadvantages. for people who don't own many modules, the z flip cover sounds like the one for them, but for some that do, maybe the tactilis is the one for them. either way, we have two great products that satisfy different needs. be grateful for what we have and quit complaining.

i'm sorry for ranting, but i like BOTH products and i hope both of them do well and i hate it when i see people whining about petty things.

ok, i'm done...

Unhappy Whining?

Now you look, Nhatman. I was merely expressing MY opinion. The last time I checked we are still allow to do so in this forum. Am I wrong about what I wrote? Since when were we not allow to compare the two products? I pointed out some, in my opinion, weakness of the flip-clip. Others can point out why they like it. Just as other people wrote about their likes or dislikes about every other product in this entire discussion board. Dude, look at all the discussion boards, aren't there comparisons, aren't there opinions, aren't there pros and cons? I too am glad that people now have two choices. I'm just commenting why I like one over the other. I'm hardly whining, just expressing an opinion.

Talking

Just received my flip cover. Fits perfectly on my Prism, and doesn't not interfere at all with springboard. I'm able to insert/remove my eyemodule easily. The Flip-Lid will be nice when it is available, but the Palm III lid will do for now. I have one of the Handspring Sport cases. It is a tight fit, but the Prism w/ Flip-Clip and Lid fit inside.

Best $10 (plus shipping) I spent on my Visor.

a) don't take it so personally;
b) my ranting was not specifically directed at you; and
c) happy holidays to you, too.

Post Flip-Clip review online

Read the VisorCentral review of the Flip-Clip.

Lightbulb Thanks Mark!

Good review Mark! Very thorough. The 4/5 Rating is very reasonable. I too can't wait for the Flip Lid. I hope its more towards the $6 range though--$8 is a tad much for a piece of plastic .

Happy Holidays!

Smile

Just got my order of several lids and clips, and I've got the clear clip and Ice lid on my VPL. It works great! I strongly suggest that Platinum owners try accessorizing with an Ice stylus and cover, as they look MUCH better than the black cover!

BTW, any idea of when the purple covers will be back in stock? I ordered one for my girlfriend's Palm III, and am looking forward to seeing how the color looks.

Wink fanning the flame on this folder

I've been working on updating the site today and thought since you have all been so great in here, I would follow suit and post the first visual Flip-Lid teaser. (details will all soon be in the products section of our site)

It's a cool design, but does it cover the power buttons on both sides?

Looks to me like those cutouts at the lower corners leave the power buttons exposed on all Visor models. This would make sense with a see-through window... when an alarm goes off, for example, you wouldn't have to open the cover to power off the unit. Of course, if you want to snooze or dismiss it, you would have to open it.

My only request is that it sit flush to the Visor casing without all the play that the reproduction covers have.

I strongly second Mark Eagle's wish that the cover fit FIRMLY to the Visor case.
Also, another BIG note: After "USING" the Flip Clip and Palm III emulated lid for two weeks, I notice that the Flip Clip itself eases up and out of position as time passes by. So, every once in a while you need to "push it" back into place. Any chance you can incorporate "grips" that take advantage of the Visor's own louvered casing to grip the case more firmly? Clip's nice, but it slips upward as time goes by. Thanks.

Still have received only half my order. Guess the remainder is enroute?

Look closely and you'll see two little grips, one on each side of the Flip-Clip, about 2/3 from the top.

Mark, if you look at where the up/down buttons would be on the Fliplid, it appears to be concave on the inside (I know it's only a sketch). That would mean that they took into account even the possibility of those buttons being depressed with the cover closed. If this is the case, then the cover would have to be prefectly flush with the top of the visor.

Wink

those arent just sketches. these are actual screen captures from our beta CAD design. We will be begining on the die work soon.

here's one that will calm some concerns about fit.
