Got the Ice DX today...very good initial impressions. My concerns about Graffiti have been eliminated...not that big of deal.

I went with some good ol' scotch tape to prevent scratching...to be honest, I don't even mind the ragged look of it. As long as it does the trick it'll be fine for me.

I did learn one valuable lesson...TURN OFF THE HOT SYNC when not in use! I hot synched addresses without problems then tried to sign on the the net. It only took me 2 hours to realize why my modem would not respond. I'm still not sure of the exact reason but I know every since I turned off the hot sync I haven't had any problems. Maybe I should have read the instructions but I was so eager to get started.

Now I'm off to download some programs...

Happy holidays to all.

Check to see which modes have been enabled for the hotsync by right-clicking on the icon. When I installed the software, it enabled USB, serial, and network modes and my modem would not work. Disable all but USB (if that is what you have connected to) and the modem should work fine.

Thanks for the tip.

I found out I had both the serial connection and my modem going through COM port 1. I moved the serial connection to COM2 and it's been running fine since.

I spent 2 hours of my life trying to figure that out...what a waste!

Cool

Be sure to go to the prefs and turn off Beam Receive. Beam Receive gobbles batteries.

Winchell,

Beam Receive is OFF.

Thanks,

Exclamation

And leaving the Visor sitting in its cradle eats batteries up, too. Even if it's turned off. If it's sitting in the cradle, it's listening for the cradle to start talking to it, just like if Beam Recieve is on, it's listening to its IR port all the time, and that takes power.
