Visorphone - Emails & Browsing
I'm kicking around the idea of getting a VisorPhone for my Prism. It looks like they are giving the phones away for free if you sign up for a plan.
Can anyone tell me if I get the VisorPhone what carrier/level of service I need to get to be able to send and receive emails? Can I access the internet once I have VisorPhone, or are there additional accessories, and/or software I need to buy to do this with my Prism?
Thanks in advance.
- Brian

I Have had my visorphone for almost a year (11mo and 5days) It has been worth it. First you need a carrier I use Cingular wireless they are national and after my trip to Porter Rico,Virginia and Charlotte,NC roaming is no hassle and great signal connection. Next you need an ISP I use Screaming Internet Service (screaminet.com)([email protected]) 3,000 local dial-up numbers across 50 states.( never had a dropped connection or down time) next you need an email program ( I use the new SnapperMail-great attachment support.)and a browser I use Blazer 2.0 from Handspring. connecting is simple call cingular and tell them you want data services and your up and runnning getting on line and sending and receiving email. I went one step further and added fax data line to send (send only) Faxes with Instep Print/Fax. hope this helps check the message boards or email me at the above email address for connection questions. I have a visor Platinum that was upgraded with 16MB of ram at palmupgrade.com( I don't like rechargable batteries so gettting the Pro was not an option for me) Eddie
UPDATE: BOUGHT PHONE, WHAT ELSE IS NEEDED TO TEST?
It looks like Cingular is not available in Minnesota. I'd probably need to use T-Mobile (Voicestream).
UPDATE:
On a fluke I bought just the phone itself "no additional adapters, or accessories" for it - just the phone itself for $25 thru ebay (half.com). For those that actually have the phone what is the minimum stuff I need to just see if it works - get a dial tone?
Do I need anything besides the phone module itself to test? Any software install I need to go thru? Any chips or additinal plug-ins?
Thanks in advance - I want to be able to test the phone as soon as it arrives - just far enough to see that it will work - I probably am not going to lock into a celluar plan just yet.

No I probably don't want to test on "911". Really all I need is to get a dail tone - so if it sounds like if I just pop in the phone module, I should be able to get a dial tone - if I get that I figure it is a working phone whicih is all I want to test right now.
It may or may not have a sim card - beyond the phone itself, I really don't know what else will come with it until I get the package. My company is paying for my other cell phone right now - I decided that I just wanted the visorphone for use sometime in the future. The price was so cheap, I felt I had to jump on it.
