I don't mean to lower the quality of the discussion here it's just that some questions like this dumb one perhaps has got to be asked:

Anybody fashion or found a tether for their stylus? Dang it's so easy to misplace - but lucky to find it again - so I was wondering about how do you cope, other than having a good mind, with the potential for losing your stylus?

I just faced the inevitable and bought the 5-pak from Handspring. Check out PDA Panache for low cost stylii as well.

There are no "dumb" questions.
I haven't made a tether, but perhaps one could be made with a bit of monofilament line.
Tie one end around the butt end of the stylus, and maybe the other end could be attached to the Springboard cover.

Question

Please don't take this the wrong way but....

I have been using PDA's for two years now, first a Sharp Mobilon and now a BVDx and I have yet to lose a stylus. Am I just lucky?

If you've never lost a stylus you're pretty lucky; caveat emptor for Handspring owners, though! My stylus fell out of the silo the FIRST TIME I used the thing outside my home. Four phone calls (probably costing more than the Visor itself) resulted in weeks of waiting, only to receive not one but 4 of those crummy plastic stylii in the mail. I received my Visor as a gift and I was shocked to be treated so rudely and indifferently by the Handspring customer service people. I've gotten better service from the guys at Mattel trying to fix a Sesame Street game!

If you got 4 free replacements for the stylus you lost, then I'd say you're pretty lucky and it sure was nice of handspring to send them.

I think I received 4 stylii by accident rather than by design; each time I called Handspring they had no record of my prior call (unbelieveably, they claim to have no way to track complaints or how the complaints are resolved) and they promised to "escalate" my request for a replacement (do you think they meant "accelerate"?). Moreover, I could tell by the packaging and the handwriting that all of my requests were fulfilled on the same day by the same person, who managed not to notice that they had come across my name and address before on that very day. I'm glad I got the replacements w/o having to pay the $15.95 plus an unbelieveable $8.50 in shipping, but the stylii still fall out and they don't compare in quality to even the backup stylus that Palm Pilot supplies with its products. (By the way, Palm supplies 2 stylii, Handspring only supplies 1.) Maybe accessories will be easier to obtain when they hit retail stores - projected for the end of this month, I hear.
