Is wireless Hotsync possible

Just got a Prism and this is my first handheld ever, so I am totally new. What would I need to have to use my Prism in a wireless situation at my office so I can basically Hotsync to use it for email and also other apps with out a cable or cradle?

You would probably want to get a Wireless Ethernet module, such as this one from Xircom / Intel. Then you can set your PC up for a network hotsync.

Of course, you'll need to have a wireless (802.11b) network at your office for this to work.

...assuming your ready to pay $250 for the priviledge.

Or you can take the free approach (if your computer supports it) and go for IR hotsyncing.

Or, get this....

Or you can plug the USB connector of a Handspring Synch cradle into your computer and complete the Hotsynch in a fraction of the time that you could with wireless or Ir.

I have this image of a gadget-geek spouting off about synching from the conference room, and getting up as he performs the synch, returning to my office, syncing "manually", and walking all the way back to find that he is still only halfway done.

True, any option besides USB is much slower.

If the original poster can access his e-mail via TCP/IP instead of just HotSyncing, it may be faster for him to use a wireless ethernet connection. Especially if he happens to be far away from his desk.

Thanks..I will probably go the network route..I use VNC also on several computers and it would be nice to be able to use it on the Prism instead of constantly travelling up 4 floors to my office.
Thanks again

IR, yes (since I don't think Visors support FIR), but not a good wireless setup (unless the SB slot cripples 802.11 in some way I'm not aware of). Although the theoretical limit of USB is 11Mbps (just like 802.11), ISTR the actual max of a Visor being more like 2-4Mbps. That's also under ideal conditions. Even getting only 1Mbps on a wireless connection will probably not be perceived as any slower than a USB hotsync. And with 802.11, you'd also have the option of using TCP/IP based services like POP or HTTP. OTOH, there is the cost factor to consider.
