-- Color Visors "Backlogged"?! (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=394)
My dad (in Southern California) ordered three Visors on 9/21 - one graphite, one blue, one green. A package arrived today (10/20) containing ONLY the graphite Visor. He said the bill of lading indicated the blue and green Visors were "backlogged". It gets stranger every day....

Was his card hit for 1 unit, or 3?

John, it appears he was only charged for the one graphite unit. I'll post new info as things develop here....
Blue-- No surprise. The prettiest pictures on the Handspring site are of the blue one. :-)
Green-- Hmmm. That surprises me.

discHead, do you think backorder status has anything to do with how "pretty" a particular color is? Did it ever dawn on you that all colors are backordered because of the different production and/or supplier of the colored units. This probably doesn't have anything to do with green vs. blue vs. yellow/orange. It may have something to do with the ice backs or the coloring process itself. (If ice units are also backordered, it is more likely the ice process, if not, then more likely the coloring process.) But, it is unreasonable to assume backorder status has even anything to do with how many of a certain color have been ordered.
Relax Dmkozak. No need to pop a blood vessel over someone else's conjecture. I don't think it unreasonable to assume that high demand may have an effect on backorder status.
"It is unreasonable to assume backorder status has even anything to do with how many of a certain color have been ordered."
Unreasonable to *assume* it, yes, but not unreasonable to speculate that it might be true. Backorder status *may* at least partially have something to do with demand, which may indeed have something to do with how "pretty" a color is.
But I think we're working with *way* too little info to make any reasonable guess. Who knows? Maybe they decided to send out only one unit per address to start with.
Did anyone receive a color unit?

By looking at the visor Recieved Thread, Blue , Ice, and Graphite have been received. http://www.visorcentral.com/visor/d...TML/000468.html
Hmm.... LoL...
The Apple iMac craze was running out of colors. You guys don't remember that one? Or say... ever go to a car dealership and the color you want isn't there?
Some colors DO get really popular, and when they aren't accurately prepared for that many orders of that color, it can certainly get back logged. In Apple's case, they were selling Blueberry iMacs out retail stores like crazy... but the stores were only able to buy all five colors at a time (cause that's basically how they were being made). So, stores were usually out of blueberry, and in stock with almost all the other colors. Apple later fixed that.
Different colors count as different models. And that's probably how they're considered when they're manufactured. So if someone over at Handydandyspring said, "hey, let's just order 3 thousand graphites and a thousand of every other color"... you got a problem. Just a thought.
That and... if they're getting a LOT of orders for one particular color, they may stop the dyeing process for some of the other colors. Just another thought.
Just got my order, sort of. Ordered an ice Visor and serial cradle in late September. Just received the cradle and the Visor's listed as "backordered". I agree that HS's projections included less ice's than what's actually been ordered.
