Does anyone know of a company making a cell phone Springboard? I'm very interested in this topic and need as much information regarding it as I can get.

I think a cell phone falls into my category of "Why bother" because what use will it have if it's not plugged into the springboard.. and if it can function without the springboard, what's the use of it with the visor anyway?

I feel that way about the MP3 player.. if I can get a standalone for about the same price, why the hell would I want one for my visor?

Does a digital phone connected to the Visor all for moving email and other things to and from the Visor make any sense? What about capturing web pages through the digital phone onto the Visor? Can such connectivity with a cell phone reduce the need for another wireless module? I am about ready to purchase a digital phone (StarTac) with the hope that I can use it with the Visor. What does anyone think?

Actually, I believe the cell phone Springboard is one of the first products thought of by Jeff Hawkins when he was designing the Visor.

BizEChilD - the use of such a Springboard would be:
1) You can just dial a number by going into your PalmOS Contact list and tapping on a name - you can even search for the name by writing - way more convenient than scrolling through the clunky address books built into cell phones.
2) You can connect to the Internet and download email without the need for any other external device. Oh yes, and you can connect to the Internet WIRELESSLY using a cellphone Springboard.The SixPack from Innogear will do this too, but it cannot function as a telephone and you need to connect it via cable to a cell phone if you want to email on the go.
3) You won't have to carry a cellphone with you - your Visor and cellphone Springboard is all there is - saves you from the "Batman Utility Belt" Syndrome!

Here's a relevant topic I haven't seen discussed: what are the characteristics of the built-in mic? Is it sensitive enough to pick up your voice from arm's length, so you could use the cell phone and the PDA features simultaneously by just plugging in standard headphones?

If they were smart in the design it would incorperate a headset, and not bother w/ the built-in mic at all.

I agree it would be nice if a headset came included, but if they use a headphone jack, you could plug in speakers and use your Visor as a mobile speaker phone! That's assuming no audio feedback, of course.
