-- Help with GPS! Delorme Tripmate to Visor (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=8824)
Visorcentral chat,
I'm facing a problem many have seen - how to get the visor to talk to a Delorme Tripmate GPS? I'll be thrilled if you can give me some insight!
I'm using the serial cradle, along with a m-m null modem adapter, but I'm having problems. I can get the Tripmate to initiate by sending the "ASTRAL" command from my PC while running a terminal window, but not from the visor. My feeling is that either:
1. The "power" issue (http://www.pocketaprs.com/visor.html) is the cause of my problems, or..
2. I'm doing something else wrong.
Basically, I am making the cable in the above link, with little success. If anyone has specific information on the Tripmate to Visor connection, please give me any insight you can!
Thanks.
delorme has just released a Handspring Cable that allows your tripmate to talk to the visor. It can be found at the following url: http://www.delorme.com/earthmate/visor%5Fpac.asp.
I've tried it out and it works great with both of my Earthmate and Tripmate GPS systems!!
Earthmate USB cable sucks
I purchased the Earthmate from DeLorme today, however the USB->Serial cable provided for $44.99 is a piece of junk: it worked with interruptions for a few minutes and now is dead. So now I am back to my old Palm IIIx, that cable works ok. Does anybody know if there is a better cable that can be used with Earthmate?
Thanks, Sebis.
