-- Hotsync with Infrared (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=7705)
I would like to hotsync via Infrared. Can anybody give an advice how to and what I do need ?
Thanks
Mike
Do a search on "infrared sync" and you'll find several threads discussing how to do it.
Good luck!

I tried BeamSync today and it works great.
Can you use the irda with the imac?
I believe only the original Bondi Blue (233 MHz) iMac had infrared capability. If that's the model you have, then you can do it. You'll need IrLink 1.5, which I use to sync painlessly with my G3 PowerBook, or BeamSync 1.0b2, which I've only read about in numerous posts here. Also, you'll need to download and install the Enhanced Infrared Update from: http://www.palm.com/support/downloads/irenhanc.html. Enjoy.
How would i tell my imac that i am using the palm with the irda port?
Open the Infrared control panel, push "Options" and select "IrDA." In the HotSync Manager, under the "Serial Port Settings" tab, select "Local Setup" then "As fast as possible" from the Speed popup and "Infrared Port" from the Port popup. Also, I deselect "Enable HotSync software..." under the "HotSync Controls" tab -- my PowerBook doesn't like that option and has frozen every time I've had it selected.
Let me know how it's coming along. Cheers...

Another question? Can i use the irda to surf the web from my imac with the irda port?
Not sure what you mean by surfing the web with the irda port. Please elaborate.
Like if i use my palm with a web browser that you can download for the palm. Can i use the palm help to the irda port to surf the web or use it ti check my mail on the mail?
I personally don't use my Visor to surf the web. I've heard you can do that, though with a G3 Powerbook 266, I don't see any good reason to.
As for sending/receiving e-mail on the Visor thru the Mac (i.e., when HotSyncing), just found out we can't do that. Mac users apparently need a 3rd party conduit called MultiMail by Actual Software to do this. It costs 30 bucks, if you're interested. "Beaten down by The Man again!"
I would like to know if I can hotsync between my Visor and a PowerBook 3400 and if so, how to set up the PowerBook.
does anyone know if can use my visor irda port to maybe use aols aim software and use my imac for the internet connection?
I've read a post in another forum at this site regarding the use of aol's aim software. Try the "Software" forum. As for the PB 3400 user, I forget -- is the 3400 an 040 machine or PowerPC? I'm not sure it matters either way, actually, but were you planning to HotSync serially or with infrared (does the 3400 even HAVE infrared -- I forget that, too)? If serially, hopefully you've purchased the serial cable with your cradle. Just plug that into the serial jack. In the HotSync Manager (in the Palm folder on your 3400), under the "Serial Port Settings" tab, select "Local Setup" then "As fast as possible" from the Speed popup and "Printer-Modem Port" from the Port popup. If you plan to HotSync via infrared, see previous post above. Cheers...
Just to clarify...By "serial jack," I mean the printer-modem port.
In reply to dinosoar:
the 3400 is a PowerPC and has IR as well as Ethernet and the serial port.

Cool! You're all set then. Let me know how it goes.
