-- Bike Brain for Visor? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=1346)
I really wanted to get a BikeBrain for my HVD, but Velotrend's website doesn't show it as a product. I've written them but haven't received a response yet.
Is it ever going to come out as a sprinboard module or just a piece of software with the mounting kit similar to the III(x) series?
Anyone?
Here is a direct quote from my request about Handspring support for the Bike Brain:
"Not immediately - you could get a cheap old Pilot for the purpose, though..."
I hope that answers your question.

What is a BikeBrain?
"What is a BikeBrain?"
Go to www.velotrend.com
Imagine a bicycle computer that you can sync with your home PC.
As for buying another cheap pilot/palm...It's not such a bad idea...how cheap can I get one?

(From someone who rides about 75 miles a week)
The whole idea makes me a little uncomfortable. If I had a $50 Palm, maybe, but things happen, and I would not want to risk my Visor hanging on my handlebars.
I've got a CatEye which tells me everything I want to know (speed, distance, time, etc.), it only cost me around $30, and it's nice and small and secure.

All right, I checked out their website, and yes, it looks pretty cool.
Still, I would rather get an old palm for it. Putting my Visor "on the line" like that would just make me too nervous that something would happen to it.
(Am I being overprotective?)

Well, I kinda agree that it would make a little nervous having my Visor right there, but I just don't like the idea of having a second organizer...I guess it would put my mind at ease if I bought an older model and used it for nothing but biking...
Thoughts, comments?
As a Visor enthusiast and cyclist (road and mountain), I would highly recommend the old PalmPilot for your bike.
It would be a real heartbreaker to crash and total your precious Visor. And even if you rarely crash, Murphy will make sure you do as soon as your $249 Visor chock full of crucial data is strapped to your handlebars.
The Bike Brain does look kinda neat. Talk a friend into upgrading to a VDX, and get his old Palm for free!!
I thought that Bike Brain was a neat idea, but primarily for the maps. I didn't think that I would want to put my VDX on my handlebars just to know speed and distance, as mchlwise said, you can buy a bike computer for $30 or so.
When I checked out their map lists, it was pretty limited. Maybe as more people map more areas. . . . . .

Is anyone using the Bikebrain? If so, how fast does it kill the batteries?
