-- Is the girl at Rhodiana crazy or what?! (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=10186)

Posted by Arker on 12-18-2000 10:27 PM:

Well today the little tab thing on the back of my Rhodiana case went flyin' across the room as the Visor fell to the floor from my belt. No damage was done to the Visor but of course the case was rendered useless as a belt case.

Anyway, I call the freindly people at Rhodiana and according to the girl I spoke to this is happening alot. As a matter of fact, (even though their website still says otherwise)they no longer offer the belt clip model of case. Only those without the clip are available now. She did say that if the tab broke on a model like mine I can send it back to them for repair and they will install another tab. No more are being manufactured like that now though.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with these guys? Anyone else here have the tab break off? I would have assumed that instead of discontinuing the clips they would just reinforce the tabs or something. I dunno about you guys but if I were looking for a non-beltclip case then I likely wouldn't choose one of these as there are alot more attractive alternatives available.

Cheers,

Arker.

Unhappy

Man, that sucks. The Rhodiana is my favorite case. I recently broke the belt clip on mine, but I was able to buy two more to replace it. While I probably could have found an equivalent belt clip for less cash ($5/clip), it was convenient to just call. I had no idea that the belt clip case was discontinued. If you really like the case, I would send your case in to get it repaired and suffer for a little while. The TAT shouldn't be that bad; my clips came in about a week even though the lady at Rhodiana said it would be 2-3 weeks. You could aways order some cheapo case to use in the meantime while your primary is being repaired. My sympathies.

Question What have you guys been doing?

I have the Rhodiana beltclip case...A friend bought it for me the same time he got his...which broke about a week ago. Mine is still doing great. I asked him a few questions to see if I should worry about mine breaking. The difference between our usages of the case is...he wears his driving, and I take mine off to drive. The seatbelt, I found, puts a lot of undue stress on the clip, which was really only designed to hold the vertical weight of the Visor.
Perhaps this observation will be useful to other beltclip case owners...

I broke the clip on my Rhodiana case and they fixed it right away when I sent it in. But I can't believe they're no longer offering it with the clip! Without the clip, why would you use the Rhodiana?

I stopped using it, anyway, because it doesn't work with oversize modems. When I asked if they were planning to make new cases to fit the Visorphone or the Minstrel S, they said they weren't because they couldn't get samples of those modules from the manufacturers. Kind of weird, I thought. I don't really think they have their act together.

What do you mean, "why would you use the Rhodiana?"
I specfically ordered mine without the belt clip.
I was concerned that a Visor on my belt was too exposed, I could shatter the screen by bumping into something solid.

And the attachment knob makes it hard to use the elastic straps.

I have clipless Rhodianas on my Visor Deluxe and my Visor Prism, and just carry them around in a Landware BurroPak.

Unhappy On second thought

I just took a closer look at the peg on my case...it's wearing through. It won't be long for this world, I'm afraid. I don't know whether to send it in for repairs, send it in to be replaced by a clip-less version, or attempt to remove the clip myself. I think it'll fit nicely in my Otterbox with the clip peg gone...I'd be using the Otterbox more now, except since I've been using the Rhodiana, my kids have lost the hard cover that came with the Visor. I would need that to carry batteries in the Otterbox, otherwise they get between the screen and the case...unless of course I lose the peg on the Rhodiana...

On closer inspection...it's sown in there pretty tight...I think when it breaks, I'll just exchange it for the clipless version.

Unhappy Aww..man...I love the clip.

Man, that sucks that they no longer offer the belt-clip version of the case. I was thinking of getting a Prism with a clip Rhodiana case. I love that I can attach the case to my scrubs when I'm working in the ER. Now I have to look for another belt case, one without velcro...any suggestions?

Vaja makes one with a dome snap on the cover flap instead of velcro. But you might want to inquire here about delivery times. The last thread I read (a while back) about this case mentioned some longish delays.
E&B make the slipper belt clip case with 2 small velcro tabs on the cover flap. If it's the noise you hate, it's really not a factor with that case.
Hope this helps.

Thumbs up thanks Jazzlover!!

cool I'll check those options out. The thing that I don't like about velcro is that they get fuzzy and worn with use, I would much perfer a snap cover...didn't Vaja make a cover that's magnetized?
