Im a student interested in purchasing a visor deluxe, my q's are is the extra memory, and colors worth the extra dough? Over the plain visor and with palm coming out with the IIIc is it worth it just to wait. All i know is that unless some kick butt springboards come out handspring isn't gettin my cash. or should they?

Throw back your opinion

fruitbooter6969,

How much will the Palm IIIc to cost?
I've heard $459. Do you know? Is color worth the big bucks?

Color sounds more appealing to me, but I didn't buy a color Windows CE device because of negative tradeoffs. We'll have to see what Palm has to offer.

To Tonerguy

ive heard that the cheap IIIc will go for around $249 (reletivly the same price as the visor deluxe) and the deluxe version will be close to 5 bills. The deluxe will be way out of my price range, however the cheaper model i can afford. The big question is would i rather have a spring board or color?

For my, I guess, typical use, the IIIC would be close enough to perfect. And I would trade or next time buy a IIIC. There *is* value in color - it obviously conveys information quite effectively - like RED to let you know about some critical path or item that you'd die if you miss your exam...

Otherwise I think it would come down to batteries, then software comparisons like the scientific calculator, and datebook3+ (which the Visor has).

Like for batteries... If there were situations were I couldn't live with the reputed shorter battery life - like some 3rd world country w/o reliable electricity, or needed the extended portability and easy change of AAA batteries.

Then there's the IIIC software comparison with Visor... If you get irritated by the IIIC's shortcomings, if any, then that's another thing to consider.

Anyway too I think everybody expects Visor to drop their prices. And so then price may become a weightier issue.

Really in the end I think you'll enjoy what your gut tells you... Which is... good luck!

fruitbooter6969,

FYI, rumor has it that the IIIc will go for $449 (a typical price for the high-end Palm device of the moment). I'm almost positive that you won't see their color device for $249. The device you may be thinking of for that price is the soon-to-be-released Palm IIIxe, the device which will be like a IIIe with 8mb of RAM (no Flash ROM).

Hope this info helps.

Yep...the IIIxe will not be color...but still a worthy contender to the visor deluxe. still I think that it might be good to wait for a price drop or a new visor.
Check out my post for more info.

You are correct on the Palm IIIxe not being color, but from what I understand the xe is not an updated version of the IIIe but rather the IIIx. According to my information it will have a 8mb of storage and will have Flash ROM, it may also come in a black case similar to the IIIc.

Im sorry people!!!!!!

I worded it wrong i meant to say that the palm IIIxe was going to be as cheap as the VDx and that if u buy it on the web it would even be cheaper not that it would be in color. Im sorry i wrote it wrong. I meant to say that with that price i can buy a palm and that 3rd party companys aren't realising springboards. So at the moment the only thing i know of is that Tiger Woods golf isnt tempting enough to get my money, im a student and i dont have botomless pockets im struggling to get a visor, my question is should i fork out my limited supply of money to buy something that isn't "puttin out"? (QUITE YET) and that for now there isnt much difference than the IIIxe.

My 2 cents thanks for the replys.
