-- ATL Technologies Serial Cable Info? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=8544)
An article was just posted to Visor Central saying that ATL has a serial cable available for Visors.
Does anyone have info on it? Will it work with the USB Visors? Does it supply the extra voltage/current demanded by serial devices? What does it do with the signals that the Visor can't provide?
I've been wating for the MarkSpace cables, but if this ATL cable will do the job, I'll take it.

My understanding is that it will only do what the standard serial Visor cradle will do - that is why they are billing it as a serial sync cable. You probably still want to wait on MarkSpace . . .
I have had the ATL cable for over a month now (check out my initial thoughts about it). It does work on all current Visor's (they have both USB and serial on the docking connector). The Visor only has TXD and RXD serial lines and the cable does not change this. It does have the TTL-RS232 circuitry built-in, but, like the cradle, requires power from the device it is attached to. I have used it successfully with an external modem (using a null-modem adapter) and having the DSR(?) set "high" on the modem.
The MarkSpace cables are supposed to be powered by the Visor itself (which will certainly affect battery life).
