-- Infrared Hotsync with Windows 2000? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=10314)
I tried this but I couldn't get it to work. I have a Platinum and a Dell Latitude CPx with Windows 2000. My infrared port is enabled, and when I try to sync my Visor I get a message saying an IR device was detected, but no syncing happened.
I tried to mimic the Win98 IR settings in the manual, but I'm not even sure how to check which COM port is used. I assumed it's COM3 since only COM1 and COM3 are available as choices in Serial HotSync, but COM1 is my physical serial port. So I select "serial" in Local Setup, and select COM3, and when I select IR on my Visor and try to sync, nothing happens.
Does anyone have instructions for Win2K on how to IR sync, or any troubleshooting tips?

Check out this thread. It offers a workaround at the expense of USB syncing. For some reason, W2K handles IR ports differently than serial ports so it doesn't support IR syncing out of the box.

Still having issues
First, thanks for the old thread. But I tried this with my Visor Prism and I still have the same issue. When I do a IR sync, the "IR Device in range" icon pops up in the tray, but after a few seconds, it goes away without a sync occurring. I have a laptop running W2K Pro with no IR, so I am using the XTDNAccess USB IR device by Extended Systems.
Any thoughts on what the problem is would be greatly appreciated!
