My batteries died, erasing all the data in my visor. When I try to hotsync the Visor with my computer, it activates the desktop (pops up the HotSync Progress menu), however it sticks on "Connecting with Handheld" and does not sync. Any insight would be appreciated.

Make sure you have fresh alkalines in your visor and clean the Hotsync contacts with rubbing alcohol. This should get you connected. I would also make a copy of your user backup folder, just in case. You can find it at Palm > (UserName) > Backup on your PC. Keep in mind that this will reload your data, but maybe not all of your apps. You may have to reload those manually. BackupBuddy NG would eliminate this step.

Any other suggestions from fellow Visor owners would be welcome...

Unhappy

Thanks for the info, however, no luck. I am pretty sure there is a connection between the Visor and PC as the Hotsync dialog on the PC does come up, however, it does not sync. I did notice that it does not recognize me as a user (in the HotSync PC dialog it says "User: " instead of "User: Joe") --- Still kinda stumped as to why it won't sync.. any other ideas would be appreciated.

Did you do a reset on the Visor?

I was doing a soft reset on the Visor with no luck .. wrote Handspring tech support (email) and they wrote back and told me to do a hard reset, I did that and it started working! Right now I am restoring my databases ... thanks for all your help!
