-- That horrible crunch (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=1332)

Exclamation

I knew instantly what it was. I was at lunch with some colleagues from the office and had just taken a seat. My IVDX was in the pocket of my raincoat. Unfortunately, my raincoat had found its way under the leg of my chair. You know the rest.

The good news: the leg of the chair did not break the cover. The bad news: the cover deformed enough that the screen was shattered. Interestingly, despite the broken glass, the Visor worked and I was able to sync.

The better news: For the moment, Handspring is replacing screens for free regardless of the circumstances surrounding it's destruction. They are planning to start charging $75 for this soon, but it's free for now.

On a side note, I was suckered into buying the extended service plan when I bought my Visor at Staples. I took advantage of it last night when I traded my dead unit for a new one.

I think it's time to get a good belt-clip case for your Visor, that way it's protected and always at your side, rather than under your butt. I suggest the Rhodiana belt-clip case. It's about $45, but it's definitely worth it.

I really like my EB case. It has a flip-up cover, and can be carried on your hip.
However, I still can't get it to sync while in the case as meant to.

That horrible crunch? That seems to my department.

My first palm, was the PalmIIIe broke inside my coat pocket due to extreem temperature changes. (inside or out as my mom would say)

Second was a Visor, fell down 15 feet from the top of an aircraft De-icing unit after the belt clip broke. screen was smashed, it bounced down 3 steps untill it hit concrete.

Third Broke in my pocket as I dived for a rubberband ball. As bad as the screen looked, I was glad I didn't find glass shards in my hip.

That rubberband ball took me 30 minutes of work time to make, I wasn't about to lose it. :-)
Also the Palm IIIe that gave out due to temperature changes. Had survived falling out of a car going 45MPH a few weeks earlier.
I think I'll take the name PalmPC Smasher.
