Question

Hello,
This is my first post to this forum. I am a relatively new user of PDAs and I own Visor Platinum. I am interested in being able to check my email from the "road" with my PDA. I would like to be able to use both cell and landline but landline is most important. Will the thinmodem + allow me to connect to a cellphone. If not, what options do I have? I would like to avoid a new monthly service fee. Any advice/help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Thinmodem+ needs a dialtone to work, so I don't think your cellphone will work with it.

Options? Well, if innogear had actually produced a 6-pak.... sigh.

May be actual options out there- you need a "cell modem".

The Thinmodem+ website does not say anything about a cell phone capability. I agree with John.

If you want options with the same module, you may want to go with another modem. Xircom has a rebate on their modem right now. It has fax and cell capability also. There are some threads on these modems - you may want to check it out.

another option (but more expensive) is the visorPhone...
it has a GSM modem build in...

Very cool, but more expensive..

Do files get embarrassed when they get unzipped?

You may be able to get a cell phone to work with either a custom made cable or with a serial cable, phone data cable, and a null modem adapter. Do a search of the forums to find out more. Your service provider must offer some sort of digital web service, if its TDMA forget it. For GSM you can buy a phone with IR, the Xircom & GSM cable, or the VisorPhone.
