-- "Where's the Beef?" or... What a waste of CD space! (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=9828)
I just got my new Prism, after thouroughly enjoying my Visor Delux for the last year.
After loading the CD and installing the software I went looking for the COOL pictures and demo software that Handspring must have included on the disk to show off their flagship 65,000 color display PDA!
Boy, was I disapointed!!!... Nothing, nada, none, zero.
Come on Handspring... you guys are really missing the boat!!!
Don't you realize that there are usually other potential buyers around when a new Prism is fired up for the first time?
I hope I have not missed something somewhere, but I really did look and I could not find anything... Now I am sure I can find some cool stuff at the usual PDA spots on the web but this is really amazing to me... any comments?
P.S.
What is the "Handspring photo album" that I have read about in another posts?
Check Handspring's site here:

WARNING: Zap!2016 is addictive even for non-gamers!!

nitehawk,
Here's the link to the cool free color stuff from HS:
http://handspring.com/products/viso.../software.jhtml .
The Photo album is amongst the items you can download.
Show off your Prism
I also upgraded from the VDX to the VPR. Outside of the freeware that Handspring offers there are other that can help you show off your hefty investment in a color PDA.
Check out
AlbumtoGo http://www.clubphoto.com
This app is very similar to HandSprings Photo Album, but doesn't auto resize photos, though it has some nice features like a slide show with some nice wipes!!! It is fully compatible with the Visor line now, so you can copy your photos to your springboard 8MB Flash Module and still view them thus saving precious internal ram)
and
FireViewer & FireConverter http://www.firepad.com
FireViewer is great for viewing pics larger than the 160x160 screen. The biggest draw back with it is that you can't store images on your external memory so becareful, you find yourself running out of space quickly.
It comes with VideoConverter too!!! Convert and watch .avi files on your VPR in 4 greys, 16 greys, or in color (16 to 32 colors from what I can tell.)
Both are free so go get 'em and blow the IIIc out of the water

Handspring ... Hint! Hint!
It appears that the CD-ROM that comes with the Visor only has a little over 25MB used out of a potential 650MB. This does seem like a waste of space.
HINT TO HANDSPRING:
With so much space available you could create a 15 to 20 minute mpeg video showing the features of the Visor and how to use them. It could function as a promotional AND instructional video at the same time!
Actually this would work for most all CD-ROMs that come with hardware since often there is little software on them.
