There seems to be a considerable amount of confusion regarding the ordering process. Basically, we've all called an unknown phone and given a complete stranger our credit card information on a product that we've never seen in person.

From reading several of the posts here, I can tell there are many questions that need to be confirmed with regards to cradles, actual costs, etc.

I spoke with a girl today at Handspring and she said to double check your e-mail confirmation and reply if there are any discrepancies with your order. Thing is, nobody ever asked me for my e-mail address.

Since I've not received any kind of order confirmation number, and they don't know my e-mail address, how can I be sure I'll receive anything?

I encourage anyone ordering a Visor to double check with Handspring and make them confirm the information they have on your order. If they can't... well, you be the judge.

More to follow...

I remember them taking my email address (as well as shipping address, billing address, phone number). I remember the email address distinctly because I had to repeat it a couple of times. Yeah, I've heard of some problems, but hopefully it's nothing more than a few bumps in the road for a brand new company selling a brand new product. We'll see.

I think the first poster here makes some very good points. There's no question that this is a very cool product, but other questions abound. Don't you think we should be able to access a detailed data sheet (pdf?) at the Handspring site? Right now, we're all hunting around through various online news stories for bits of information (some of which seems to be contradictory), as well as quizzing the Handspring telephone folks (with varying degrees of success).
Yes, we are obviously very early in the process. But we should at least have (i) an authoritative, complete data sheet available at the company site; and (ii) a reasonable degree of comfort with the ordering process. The developer information is great, but I want to buy one, not build one. When the G4 debuted at the Apple site, there was truly detailed information available immediately, and the people at the Apple Store toll-free number were thoroughly prepared to answer any other questions. I think that's a good standard to aspire to...particularly when you're asking people to buy a new product sight unseen.

There is very detailed information in the developers section of the site. Including mechangical drawings of key components. I never seen a new product with this much documentation before. Check it out.

I was told I would receive an email confirmation within two weeks...even if that is a long time-thats what they told me. They also told me that there would be online ordering available by next week-so maybe also a fresher, better web page with more info and photos?!

Cool

I was also told to look for an order confirmation in a couple of weeks. Anyone not already signed up for the newsletter will apparently be added to the mailing list after ordering.

Salesperson also said that within a week or two, it will be possible to check order status on their web site.
