Hi everyone! I just "defected" from the WinCE camp last month when I ordered my Visor Dlx on 9/25. Having a Casio before I know that the screens on these things can really get scratched when you write and poke at them. I've always used a screen protector with my Casio and am worried about getting one for the Visor. I don't see one offered... What do we do? Or are these Palms a lot "tougher?"

Go to www.conceptkitchen.com , buy yourself some WriteRights, use them. Problem solved. If you'd like less expensive sheets/solutions, there are several web sites that talk about them.

Screen protectors can be a bit expensive. I recommend trying it without first. Alot of people myself included do not use them. I used to but the price and the loss of clarity caused me to stop. I have a couple of small scratches, nothing noticable and there are solutions out there to fix the scratches.

I've always used Write Rights with my Palm. They're perfectly clear after application and last forever. Someone said that the Write Rights for the Palm III fit the Visor screen perfectly, FYI.

There's also a product called ScreenClean, which can be obtained at Palmlife - unlike the plastic overlays, this is a screen polish which apparently deals with small scratches and reduces screen friction.

Mileage may vary, I guess. Get both if you're prone to scratching (I have a laptop which could use some scratch repair thanks to a wildly swung power plug)

You can also use Magic Scotch Tape. It's the blue box I think. Put some over the Graffiti area. The texture is like paper.

WriteRight screen protectors from Conceptkitchen fit perfectly on the Visor.

I can't say I agree with the WriteRights recommendation. When I tried them on my PalmPilot Pro I found that they really affected the screen readability. Maybe this decrease in sharpness is not so visible when used on Palm III or Palm V though.

After two years of use, I find that my screen is hardly scratched. The graffiti area is but I don't find that a problem at all.

great!; but 12 packs??? anyone want to either go in on a package with me and split it; ona ny existing owner want to sell me like 4 of them? my palm3 is kinda scratched upa nd i don't want it to worsen

I just picked up a CK PDA Survival Kit from Amazon for $30. The bundle includes:

12 WriteRights for screen protection
12 Brain Wash packets for monthly cleanings
Two Karma cloths for daily cleaning
One fingertip stylus

I was about to get just the WriteRights for 21.99, then saw the bundle for a few bucks more.

I think the folks that are reporting visual problems with Write Rights simply aren't giving them enough time. Immediately after application, there's a milky sort of haze from the adhesive. However, simply rubbing on the Write Right with your fingernail will eliminate this haze. I believe ConceptKitchen even addresses this issue. I've used Write Rights since CK started making them and I've never noticed any visual degradation once I rub the adhesive "clear". In fact, the only way you can tell it's on the screen is by the seam around the edge of the screen. FWIW.

i use the writerights for the palm III series.

Jackel mentioned cheaper alternatives and my ? is on the same tract. I was talking to my Brother earlier this evening (he has an older Palm Pilot) and he suggested using the clear plastic overhead projector sheets, cut to fit as a screen protector (that's what he does.) Is anyone else using that?? Does anyone know the web sites that discuss this??
(my Brother saw this a while ago so he couldn't name any URLs off the top of his head)

I think the site was under palmgear's tips & tricks. Not really sure. I also remember people using rainX directly on the surface of the screen. If you use the overhead projector transparencies, does it affect the sensitivity of the screen?
