Cool

Seems to me that those cartridge modules could be the E book ofthe Future! After looking at .... I think it was Palm Gears website?... I found a many usefull e books (ie: Dictionary, Medical, Math, Science books and Travel Guides) This was pretty amazing to me! Just made me think of some Sci-fi movie where people can buy the encyclopedia of Galactica contained with-in a small little cartridge ! Any thoughts about all books becoming digital anytime soon?

What about including or distributing electronic versions of the book with the book itself?

I know that I prefer to read the actual book, but there are times when I don't want to lug it around with me (or I don't want to carry a portable light to read in the dark) but would still like to read.

Library ebook checkout.

Some libraries will "checkout" ebooks directly to your Palm unit. I would like to see that become a wave of the future. Also http://www.netlibrary.com will allow you to checkout books to PC's.

The future of ebooks is most likely digital paper. A few products are already on the market that allow you to print ink on a flexible surface (ie, paper) and the content on that paper is digitally displayed.

Nothing beats the resolution and convenience of paper. It's still a great medium and I think it will be that way for centuries to come...we'll just have digital content on this paper.

As for libraries, I also think the future will bring us a subscription service (Ideally through public libraries) where we pay a monthly service to check out texts from the library online (it would still be free on-site).

Wink pda-ebook mailing list

Hi All,
If interested, there is also an e-list where you can discuss these and other issues concerning the creation and marketing of eBooks for reading on PDA's.
