Memplug backup readable by Handera?

I've never used the backup functionality of the Memplug-CF yet, and I don't have it with me, but does anyone know if the backups created with one would be readable by a Handera 330?

I don't know how the memplug backup works--but I'm doubtful because I don't believe it uses a standard VFS API...

however, there are several VFS backup programs that work very well, and which would obviously be installable on both your visor and the Handera you just told us you're going to jump ship and buy (or are you looking ahead to color?)

Me either, but I'm seeming to remember someone saying that it just writes the .pdbs and .prcs to a directory on the CF. If so, I can probably just browse the card and copy the programs and databases.

heh...well, it's not like I haven't been saying for a few months now that I'm jumping ship, but I'm undecided between the 330 and waiting a couple months to see if a color one appears. The announcements of the past couple days make me wonder if I'm not better off dumping my Visor stuff now (while I can still get _something_ ) and getting a 330 while waiting for the color one, though.

Tough call, that. Although, when the color Handera comes out, your accessories purchased for the bw unit will undoubtedly work with it (corporate support and consistency in product design, imagine that!), but I'm betting the price for the 330 itself will drop fast just like the visor....

6 of one, half-dozen of the other. Flip a coin.

Well, I'm only irritated that I didn't jump on the $50 off thing that CompUSA had the first week in January.

Have you got a Sams club in your area?

There are two in the NOLA area (there's one planned for Houma, but it's snagged in process), but I hadn't taken a trip there recently. We're hitting the Aquarium for my and my daughter's birthday next weekend, though, so we might have to pass by Loyola.

...well, the bad news is that unless you've got a membership, your SOL. They're 30 bucks for a year...

...if you can get yourself to look like a young, blonde, waif-like geek, I can mail you mine and you can use it.

heh...the grandparents (my mom and dad) are coming along for the ride and Dad has a card. Even if he didn't, at the price I heard Sam's was selling them for, $30 extra would still be cheap.

I don't think my local Sam's stocks them... I can seem to locate them there anyway...

Well, the price I heard was either $217 or $219.

Nevermind

My memplug was in my bag after all, just in the wrong pocket. Ran the backup, and it does store the raw .pdbs and .prcs, so it appears that I should be in business. Now to see if anyone wants to buy some Visor accessories...

Price Question

Was the 217 to 219 for a new HE330?

I've seen occasional prices on the HE website right around that, but only for refurbished units.

BTW - I'm quite impressed with the TRGPRO model - I had my folks buy a couple for them, and I had a serious case of envy....

But I'll wait and grab a HE 330 when the price comes down a little more.

Cheers!

Supposedly. After looking around on Handera's site, though, I think I realize why. Now that Handera has CompUSA distributing the 330s, I think they've stopped their affiliation with Sam's (Sam's was originally prominently displayed in the "How To Buy" options, but isn't there anymore). Sam's is probably selling off their remaining inventory at or just above cost to make room for something else.
