Thumbs up SoundsGood Rules

I paid full price for the SoundsGood a couple months ago after reading everything I could find on it and the MiniJam. I love the SoundsGood and no, I don't work for them. They sound quality is great, the interface is simple to use, and it fits flush in the Visor.

Sure, I wish it had an expansion slot or more memory, but I don't mind listening to the same mix a couple times a day, and at four minutes to reload, it takes longer to decide what I want to listen to.

There are a couple things I wish the software did, like rearrange and rename files, but I have been very happy with it.

Regardless of PalmGear's reason for dropping the price, it's a hell of a deal.

Lightbulb

Anybody here receive your soundsgood from PG?

Got it yesterday. I was suprised by how small it is. Loaded the 64Meg with 16 songs in about 5 min and could not beleive how good it sounded. Now I am looking for music to download and maby rechargeable batteries.

Angry Not well thought out

Unfortunately, because it is not Mac compatible, and because there is a disproportionate number of Mac users for the Handspring, this Springboard is pretty nigh useless. Yes there are software workarounds, but it's a drag in more ways than one. The miniJam is Mac compatible, expandable, and not much more expensive.

Wow, talk about generalizations. "Pretty much useless"? What a ridiculous thing to say.

I agree. I ordered my SoundsGood from PalmGear on Saturday. There are MANY of us that use Windows -- whether it's our preferred OS or not...

Maybe he should have qualified that a bit more, but the overall sentiment is correct - I know exactly where he's coming from. I fail to see the point of a module marketed at ALL Visor users as the easiest, smallest and fastest MP3 solution when it's only compatible with one desktop platform. Good would have had my money the DAY I bought my Prism except for the fact that I ONLY USE A MAC!

And I know that I'm not the only one out there - personally, I'm tired of being shafted by developers who either forsake Mac because "nobody uses it" (Good, Sony, and for a long time, Palm) or half-asses it, because they simply don't care (InnoGear).

Unhappy

OK, I have searched Palmgear and can not find the Soundgood. Does anybody have the link? Has it already been pulled?

Posted by jmascio on 04-03-2001 03:48 AM:

mich, there is a link in the 1st post of this thread, but unfortunatley, it comes to a blank PalmGear page.

I've been waiting to scrounge up some dough for this deal, I sure hope I didnt miss out.

Question

Has anyone heard any more about why Palmgear has stopped selling this module?

Posted by purplemd on 04-03-2001 06:49 AM:

Cool

I just sent off an email asking if they were still selling the module.

If I get a response, I'll post it!

Jut got it yesterday. Now it is chock full of music so my wife will stop stealing mine. Hope you all have luck getting it.

SG MP3

Is it possible that Good decided to end it's business relationship with PG and PG just decided to get rid of it's stock. That may explain most of what has happened so far.

Just a thought.

I believe Soundsgood 2 will debut. It will feature small form factor and expandability.

And MAC support, hopefully...

Do you have any inside info or are you just speculating? I don't really see how the form factor can decrease.

Thanks

He said it will have a small formfactor, not that it would be smaller than the current generation. I'm pretty sure hes just speculating though.

Personally, If they went with SmartMedia or something you figure the size would be less than 2 modules thick (Since both SoundsGood & MemPlug are standard), as long as it was contoured and such I wouldn't mind it being a little oversized.

What I want is a SoundsGood that has 128mb built-in with SmartMedia support for about the same price as the original.

GoodBYE SoundsGood

Talking nothing but pleased so far

I got my soundsgood yesterday and have been extremely happy so far. This is a carefully thought out and brilliantly executed product whose only downside so far has been its high price. I would hope that the new $150 price is a trend and not an isolated promo.

As for all of this soundsgood -the company- speculation. Has anyone heard any concrete facts?
