-- Airlines prohibiting the use of PDAs ??? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=11223)
Airline electronic eqiupment
Normally, the only devices prohibited on airline flights (besides cell phones) are AM/FM radios. The main reason for this is that the FM radio's local oscillator "shares" the same radio frequency as the VOR navigation equipment of the aircraft. This can cause interference to the navigation equipment and position errors.
I have used my Visor on many flights but I have not heard of Game Boy's being banned. However, I was on a flight from Mexico where I was told that I couldn't use a portable CD player, so I pulled out my laptop and used the CD player in it. I think there is a lot of confusion of airline personnel as to what is allowed/not allowed with the proliferation of electronic devices these days.
Gameboys have not been band, I just mentioned that they seem to cause some small problems at altitude. The problem could cause more of a problem down low. Being a mile off course at 35,000 feet is not nearly as bad as a mile off on final approach going into Vail, (Eagle), CO. Don't worry there are backups.
