-- digitizer problem (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=9408)

Posted by atdngu on 11-14-2000 01:45 AM:

I recently found myself going to the preference, submenu: digitizer several times a day to "reset" the drift that has develloped on my Visor Deluxe. The borders of the graffiti input area shifts with time as well as the "hotlinked" text on the screen. As another example, when using the calculator pressing "1" on the screen will sometimes show up as a "0".
No major trauma or falls happenned to my Visor recently. No new software seems to be at fault as I had to hard reset at one point a few weeks back when this problem was already present.

Anyone come accross this problem? Any suggestions ?

If the drift came back after the reset and you reinstalled all your apps, my first guess would be a software conflict of some sort. Some other obvious questions are: How old are your batteries? Is it the same set you had in at the time of the reset? If so, try a fresh set (always check the small stuff ).

If it's not software or the batteries, I'm stumped...

Yeah, I have this problem regularly. I have lots of software but not much new stuff. I have noticed that if I use if for a while under the offset condition that gradually it will shift (generally back to the correct position). I have had this problem for a few months now. As far as batteries go, I use NiMH batteries and have 3 sets (different brand and age) that give the same results.

Cool You truly do get what you pay for ...

The digitizer on my visor kept drifting off, it wouldn't work the scroll bars properly and almost 20% of the screen was unstable. I tried the hard and soft reboots, setting the digitizer, everything. When I e-mailed and then called Handspring, I finally reached my limit! They wanted to replace it with a reconditioned unit! Are you talking to me? I was furious!! I only owned the dammed thing for 2 and a half months! I never dropped or abused it, I even "babyed" it, know how cheap, fragile, and shoddy the construction and quality were! Keep your flimsy Springboard Modules, Handspring! I was able to exchange it for a Palm Vx and I never will go near any of Handspring's products ever again! Why suffer when you don't have to!
