No mention at all about the other extreme, cold...

Neither. It's not mentioned in any of the documentation included with the Visor (paper or electronic), nor is it anywhere I could find online at Handspring. I found it in the Developers Technical Reference Guide, something I'm sure the average user never looks at or even thinks about.

The closest I could find was on the Handspring OmniSky Page, but that's for the OmniSky itself, not the Visor.

In Heat

Obviously what is called for is the new Isotex Handwarmer Module. It works great, but it really drains batteries.

Done it.. it friggin stings. The cover especially because it is thing, gets close to outside temperatures REAL quick. After like a minute or 2 using in sub-0C temps.. it can give you a nasty shock when you close it again.

My expereinces with the Edge (34C 99% Humidity Tropical Malaysia to -10C Dry S Korea) show that it is a damn tough cookie. I've even had the LCD's mist up and had droplets of moisture on them from going form a 18C dry airconditioned room to 27C high humidity enivironments in Malaysia and it works fine. It seems the insides are sealed quite well or it would be dead.

Most issues I've had are LCD displays:

Hot -> Dark
Cold -> Light

So you gotta adjust the contrast constantly if you move in and out heated buildings in winter or air-conditioned none airconditioned buildings in tropic countries.

I don't think conditions can be any tougher than hot humid dusty tropical countries for electronic devices and my Edge has had no problems whatsever.

The dumbest thing I did to it, was like drop one of those Korean metal chopsticks on the screen. There is now a permanent chip in the glass, but it didn't crack.

So they do design and build these PDAs pretty tought at HS.
