-- Battery Life? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=10119)
As a proud Visor Deluxe owner the introduction of the Platinum and Prism delighted me. The one problem I have though is the battery life issue. My current Deluxe eats batteries up. Can any new Platinum and Prism owners tell me about their battery life? I'm assuming that the increased power and the color screen(on the prism) make this problem even worse. Btw - if this isn't a rpoblem anymore I plan on buying the Prism. Thanks
Pritam
The Prism has a rechargeable LiIon battery. When it runs low (or before), just set it in the cradle and let it charge. You can't over charge it. The power doesn't last as long as on the Deluxe. There are emergency chargers available and a car charger is in the works.

And we're told the Prism batt. only takes 1.5 hrs. to charge, while PktPc takes like twice as long.
But remember the Prism still currently has the "paint-rubs-off-in-your-hands" issue.
You may have a defective VDX when you say it eats batts. Mine last almost a week, and that's with an EyeModule (which REALLY EATS batt. power, so you can only have it on for SECONDS at a time).
You may have some kind of leak. Do you use "Bleeper," and have it set to chime on the 1/4 hr., by any chance?
Eating Batteries
I solved the battery eating problem with a $14.00 charger and a bunch of RAYOVAC Renewals. You do pay a little more up front, but the batteries quickly pay for themselves, especially when you constantly use your VDx and you 3 year old has a million toys that need batteries.
glebaron,
Do you let the Rayovac rechargeable alkalines drain completely before changing them? Or do you change them every day or two since rechargeable alkalines prefer to be recharged often? Also, have you had any of them wear out yet? How many charges were they able to take?
Sorry for the onslaught of questions, but I was considering using these (I already have a charger and a bunch of AA's) and I didn't know if I would need to change the batteries every day.
Thanks!
Battery life - what battery life?
Having owned a VDX for a year before getting a PRISM, I'm still getting over the shortened battery life. It's no big deal. It's easy to charge - I just have to think about doing it when the time is right. Seems with the color apps coming out I find that I'm using the device more and enjoying it more. I like that the Lithium Ion battery lends a hand to the landline springboard modem with its power so I don't have to replace those batteries (NiMH) as often.
I must say, as I use my Prism more (becuase I keep downloading fun programs),,,it does burn up the battery power. It charges fast, but I travel alot, so it looks like I'll need to invest in another charger.
