Visor Dlx will not synch

Ran the desktop upgrade a few days ago, and now I can't hotsynch my VDx....

I've tried two cradles, on two different computers.

Any ideas???

Have you tried a soft reset on the Visor?

Yep... didn't work, nor did a hard reset.

Try downloading Palm's new desktop (not Handspring's). I got a Palm m125 a few days ago and found that the Desktop CD was missing, so I downloaded the software and installed it, and my Visor (as well as my m125, which syncs with USB) and m105 (serial sync) work fine.

BTW, I had similar problems with my Visor not syncing with HS' new desktop; between reinstalling the earlier HotSync Manager, soft-resetting the Visor, and cleaning the USB cradle contacts, I could sync again.

Here's a update:

I grabbed a buddy's serial cradle. It worked. Seems to be a USB problem.

Right click on the hotsync icon in the taskbar tray. Is Local USB checked?

Yep. USB is enabled.

I've been talking with Handspring tech support. They escalated it to level two (whatever that means ) today. Someone is supposed to call tomorrow.

My USB stopped syncing a few weeks ago... Tried everything ( I think - my thread is around here somewhere). I ended up buying a serial cradle which works great.

Argh....

Well, after an hour on the phone with a level two technician, nothing is different.

He came to the conclusion that it's the Visor. And since it's WAY out of warrantee, it would cost like $100 to get it replaced. No way I'm dropping $100 on this. I'll go trade my new USB hotsync cable for a serial one, and call it good for now.

Did Handspring have you try the USB Registry Utility? How about cleaning the contacts on the cradle and Visor? Or what about doing a warm reset (hold the Up button while resetting) and then trying to sync?

Yep.

Nothing. Works fine with a serial cradle. Nada with USB.

So, when does the new color unit come out?

Oh, and all my other USB devices work just fine on this computer. Only has one USB port (laptop) so it's not the computer.
