Yikes! Can this happen with a Visor?

Since Visors use plastic, I don't see how.
I wonder if Hoser read the message and thinks differently about a metal case.
BTW, the guy is nuts if he thinks he will get any of the companies to fix his PC.

Happy Treo 600 user, so far. Thanx Cingular for having an unlocked phone.
My Treo 600 is my phone, my PDA, my watch, and my MP3 player. Oh yeah, I take a picture once in a while with it. Convergence is such a great thing.
I'm guessing that the aluminum casing is the primary problem... Though I bet a sprinboard with exposed metal could do it.
The real question is whether or not Handspring build a better cradle than Palm. I am going to have to defer to those who have taken apart both the serial and the USB cradles to answer that one.
Overall, though, I feel pretty save. When I first saw this static thing, I did a panicky search for a while, and could find nothing in relation to Handspring.

I have read a few posts here (and it happened to me 2 days ago for the first - and I hope last - time) where you place your Visor in the cradle only to have your PC reboot. I think it was determined that it was a cause of static electricity
discharge.
So, if this story, and it's cause and effect are legit, then we are probably at risk too...

I have to chuckle at this thread,
It reminds me of what we did to an old VT-320 terminal in the computer lab in college. It had a fault display but they refused to fix.. We fixed..., fixed it real good..., with a "borrowed" gas grill igniter, a few clicks to the com port and presto.. Never thought an old DEC terminal could scream.. The replaced it with a brand spanking new one shortly there after..
