-- IR Walkie Talkie Module (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=7680)
Hi All,
Don't know whether this has been suggested:
There seems to be a way of transmitting voice via a IR beam.
You can use the built in microphone of the Visor for this type of module. I know at best, this would be only short line of sight communication.
What you folks think about such a module?

If you were going to make a Springboard Walkie-Talkie, you'd probably be a whole lot better off using RF instead of IR. Range and line-of-sight would not be issues that way.
For those of you chuckling over a Visor Walkie-Talkie (as I first did
), consider that it could be an FRS (Family Radio Service) device. You and a Visor-toting pal (or significant other) are at the mall, a tradeshow, the county fair, etc, and could use this type of module to keep in touch. I personally like the concept after thinking about it for a bit here...
What will we think of next???

I agree with mark...
IR is no good in a Walkie-Talkie...first of all the range...
The IR port on the visor one reaches a couple of meters...you can reach that distance with your own voice..
Also the line-of-sight thing would be quite a hassle..
On the bright side, if the module would have a more powerfull IR port you could use it for a remote too.
And a IR Walkie-Talkie would be harder to be evedropped..
