What did everyone do with their Omniremote modules? Did you keep it or are you returning it. I am going to return mine and wait for some more improvements. Like RF X-10 Better non crashing software. Flashable software. Etc. It has great potential IMHO but they have fallen short. The software fix has to reside on the Visor. It should go with the module. Also causes a huge battery flucuation that is unexplainable except that the Omniremote module is in and running. Support said they have seen that in other Palms???

I decided to keep mine, but I will be 'upgrading' when the offer that program. I don't know what the buy back on this one will be, if not enough, I will just Ebay it.

But damn I want x10 support!

I am returning mine. I was thoroughly UNimpressed. Nothing can replace the feel and response of a good Universal remote. Plus, you don't have to spend all day training and re-training. Hopefully this is not an example of the functionality of upcoming Springboard modules....

Question

What's the deal here...? I thought the whole point of Springboards was that the software resided on the module...?
I've got OmniRemote software on my Visor and it works just fine - no complaints about the power of the built in IR from me. The Visor version flips the screen automatically, so the top / side thing isn't really an issue - especially as the Visor screen is SQUARE!

Looks like a module just for the sake of it. I wonder if HS pushed them to make it so that there were some Springboards out there!

Question

Fubar--

You've had more luck than me. I have never gotten OmniRemote to work. I programmed one button which flipped the channel a few times and then never did anything again. I did all bug checking things--fresh batteries and all. I was hoping the module would be more powerful than the internal and work better, but from reading these posts, I think I'll wait.

I wonder if PacificNeotek is as concerned with their customers as Innogear (who seem to check this board regularly to actually address their customers' concerns).

I actually wrote to Pacific Neotek and suggested they check the threads on Omniremote here, and possibly shed some light on some of the issues presented.

I got an email back thanking me for the suggestion, but have yet to see any posts from them.

I get the impression that they are a very small operation; so, I'm betting it's more an issue of time than of consideration of customers' opinions. I'd worry about that if I heard people saying that they'd contacted their customer support and gotten poor / no response.

Personally I like dealing with smaller businesses. Sometimes they're not as "fast" as some bigger companies, but my experience is that they are more responsive overall. ...just a general rule, of course.
