Prism v Treo v 615C
Just wondered if some of you were going through the same thing . . .
Like many of you; I received the email from Handspring offering the Treo for $399 without activation. My problem with the Treo had been the lack of color. But before handspring announced they were getting out of the PDA market I might have been swayed to get the Treo with this deal.
However, now that I thought handspring was going to tank I started to look around and found the 615C! What an awesome looking machine! Now I'm thinking of putting my sim chip from my Visor Phone into a regular phone & getting the 615C.
Of course, my wife says "You just got you're color one a year ago (Prism). What's wrong with that?" Geesh! They just don't understand do they! It's not that there is anything wrong with it, It's just that the other one is so cool! Yes, I do understand the implications to relationships, etc of this philosophy, but I only use it with Tech, not people!
So what do people think?
Lay down and relax until the desire to buy new goes away.
Color & springboard are over rated - go to the Treo.
615C baby!

...Was that email sent to you b/c you're a visorphone user?
...That's something I think you're going to have to answer yourself. Mainly, it's a question of color vs. connectivity. Both, I think, should satisfy your gadget-fetish, though I think the 615 would do a better job of it...
..if you have the wherewithal, I would upgrade from the Prism. If nothing else, you'll get a better form that a prism+vp either way, and you will be able to slook at it outdoors.
If it were me, actually, it is me, I am going from the Prism to the Treo.... somehow I'm thinking you should go for the sony, however.

I had a Prism and loved it. I now have a T-615 and love it even more.

Just really depends on what you want more, and that is a personal choice.
Personally, I would rather carry a great phone and an awesome PDA than the TREO. That is my personal choice. One thing is for sure, I would certainly not purchase the TREO unless I got the Color version. Not all of us have the fortune of actually winning one...
As for the CLIE, I absolutely love my 760. I had a Prism and it was awesome, but still no comparison to the 760. I am sure I would love the 615, but I want the MP3 player.
If I were you, I would either hold what you got, or go Sony. Personally, I would have a very hard time going back to a monochrome handheld after owning color. And now, after having HiRes, I would have a hard time going back to 160x160 as well.

I already went through it, and I chose the Sony path.
I got a Prism and separate mobile phone roughly about a year ago (actually, already had a VDx and the Nokia phone, I just upgraded to the Prism then).
I dropped the mobile phone and got a VisorPhone around October of last year. I was satisfied with it for my needs then.
I recently upgraded my setup to an Ericsson T39m (Bluetooth GSM phone) and a Sony T615C. Now all I'm waiting for is for Sony to release the InfoStick (Bluetooth Memory Stick device), and I'll be happy.
I'm perfectly satisfied with my new setup. Right now I can connect using my phone's IR port, and both are slim enough to not be any sort of a hindrance to me in any real way. The phone goes on my belt, and the T615C goes in my pocket (it will join my phone when either EB or Vaja actually releases a beltcase).
Add a Bluetooth headset to the mix, and there's very little need to actually put ANYTHING up to my ear, hehehehe.
I'll miss my Prism, but the Sony is wonderful for now.

Well, I had a Platinum, moved to an Edge, and onto a N760C. I chose the 760C because MP3 playback is a must for me (done the MiniJam thing), plus with a Flash memory app, I can clear out some unneeded apps, and go from 8mb ram to about 10mb, so that helps as well.
I personally don't want an integrated device. I want a nice cellphone, and a nicer PDA...the Treo probably is decent at both, but I'm not buying the hype. I like having 2 seperate devices, and would rather have killer disconnected PDA, and an ok cellphone.
I've tried the Visorphone, and was just not conviced.
I just switched from a Prism to a Treo, and have been using my Treo for a whole 24-hours. While I miss the bright, vibrant screen of the Prism (it's unlike any other Palm device), I LOVE the size and integration of the Treo.
I hated carrying around a cell phone and my Prism/Vdx/Palm V. This device works for me. My cell phone was always complicated in remembering how to use call forwarding, 3-way calling, hold, etc. The Treo makes it simple.
BTW, while I love color (loved my Prism) and understand all aspects of its usefulness besides being pretty, paying an extra $200 for a Color Treo vs. the b/w version is crazy.
Congrats Heberman. Enjoy your Treo.
PS. Love the chad avatar
