Visor Pro HotSync Problems in Win XP
Below is the context of an email I've sent to Handspring Tech Support. I am really running out of ways to hotsync by PDA. Tried literally everything. Just wondering if anyone else has any ideas? Anything will do. Here is the email:
I am running out of ways to try to hotsync my Visor Pro to my Windows XP PC. I have emailed you once already and tried the REGEDIT trick of deleting VID_082d&PID_0100, no help. Also have tried to quickly "catch" the Handspring Visor item in the device manager window when attempting a hot sync. I also called your hotline and after waiting for 30 min received the same help that appeared on your website under "Problems Syncing with Windows XP". None of this helped either. A "professional" technician called me today and suggested uninstalling Palm Software and running the Visor USB Registry Utility. Then, unplug all USB devices and reboot several times. Needless to say nothing has helped. I have tried installing software off your website as well as off the CD with no help at all.
However keep in mind, I have hot synced on extremely rare occassions. The exact sitaution is this. I dock the Visor in the cradle and press the hot sync button. XP recognizes the new hardware and brings up the installation of drivers window. I point it to the follwoing driver:
ProgramFiles/Handspring/Drivers/visorusb.inf.
Click next and it tells me it cannot install the hardware. If I do this several times, sometimes (1 out of 30) I can "catch it" and it will hot sync but still say that the hardware cannot be installed.
All I'm asking for is a real soultion to this problem, other than going out and blowing 50 bucks on a serial cradle. Without Hot Syncing, my PDA is kinda useless
Any help would be monumentally appreciated.
Thanks,
BSS
