Unhappy

Waaaa... I recently moved from Hackmaster to X-master. Everything seems to be fine until I tried to deactivate SelTimeHack. A fatal exception occurs every time I do that on my VDx. Other hacks works fine. Anyone has this happened to them?

For what it's worth, selTimeHack works just fine on my Prism with TealMaster. I assume you made no other changes. You might have inadvertantly changed the activation order of your hacks, triggering an issue that never occured with HackMaster because of a different activation order. Try it with no other hacks enabled. Also, TrapWeaver can help prevent problems like this if there is an app (not a hack) that is patching any of the same system calls used by seltime, so you might want to try the 1.08 version of TrapWeaver.
Here's my current config (hack report curtisy of TealMaster)
Handspring Visor Prism
8 MB Flash Module v1.2
PalmOS 3.5.2H1.2
TrapWeaver v1.08 (engaged)

I tried disabling all other hacks and using TrapWeaver. Diabling SelTimeHack in X-Master still causes a Fatal Exception. TrapWeaver didn't complain at all.

Luckily I backed up my VDx on my backup module before I installed X-Master. After numerous soft resets, I finally got fed up and restored data from the backup module (which still had Hackmaster), got rid of SelTimeHack (I don't really need it, which was the reason I tried to disable it in the first place), and re-installed X-Master. Now everything seems to be running smoothly again. Keeping my fingers crossed...

For future reference....

You don't need to go thru this restore process. When you do a soft reset you will get a message about reinstalling the hacks. If you press cancel, it will turn off all the hacks. Then you could go back into xmaster and delete the bogus hack. One exception, Xmaster has the ability to automatically answer OK to the reinstall hack prompt. If you have turned this on, then it reinstalls all hacks automatically. You'll need to turn this off first.

Just trying to make life easier.....

By the way....

trapweaver....?

It just seems like a useless product. Yes it is needed for BackDropEZ but I think it has been billed as a must-need product for anyone using hacks. After extensive testing with it, I think it is only needed with BackDrop IMHO. I have not found that it increases system stability in any way. As mentioned above, bad hacks are still bad hacks and still cause system crashed with or without Trapweaver.

just my 2 cents worth....

This is exactly what I thought would happen but it didn't. Every other hack got disabled except for SelTimeHack... Oh well, everything seems to be fine now. Thanks anyways.

that's wild!

I had the same exact problem with timeselecthack when using with xmaster and that's the only way I was able to delete it.
