-- Can't Hard Reset After Error Message (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=2310)

Question

Well almost.

After an alarm rang to remind be of a telephone call I had to make, I got an error message directing me to perform a soft reset, which I was unable to accomplish. At most, I would get back to the opening Palm screen, but the Visor was unresponsive, e.g., I could not turn it off.

While waiting on hold for Technical Support, it's now 34 minutes and counting, I tried the user guide method for a hard set. No luck. I also tried removing and reinserting the batteries, after waiting a few minutes. It took several tries before I succeeded.

Fortunately, I have Backup Buddy at home and expect to be able to restore most everything.

BUT I'm wondering: what caused the initial problem? Have others experienced a problem with the alarm? (I've also installed the alarm hack and I'm using EVPlugbase rather than Hack Master.) Have other experienced great difficulty in effecting a hard reset?

All advice welcomed.

Thanks in advance.

Cool

I have some vague memory of reading that if you have some kind of pending alarm, and you delete the application that the alarm is for, the Visor will crash when the alarm goes off.

Lightbulb

Try removing the batteries, wait 10-12 minutes, and periodically press the scroll buttons while the batteries are not installed. This should eliminate any static power, and reset the unit.
