I realize this topic has been discussed tons of times but I thought I'd post my own experience.

I recently bought a Visor and read about the scratches and related issues after the fact. In that time I began to notice a few scratches, nothing major though. I do agree that the stock stylus sucks but haven't bought any other. In the meantime I considered all options and decided to REFUSE to spend $$$ on write-rights.
I bought a transparency sheet (cost: $0.25), made a rectangle on MS Word (I'll be happy to email that document to anyone) using the dimensions of 8.1 by 7 cm, printed it out, stapled it to the transparency, took a metal ruler (cost: $3.20) and a cutting blade (cost $ 1.00) and precisely cut a screen cover out of the transparency. Seems to work fine although on ocassion I have to press the stylus a little harder. People spoke about a "glare" and I haven't really found that to be a problem.

Just my 2c. I know others have used transparencies with quite a bit of success.

Although WriteRights are expensive, if you bite the bullet and buy a set you can still beat the system with Rain-X auto glass treatment, available at auto parts stores (a tip I got from PalmGear). Normally when a WriteRight starts getting scuffed, you're supposed to replace it with another one. You can wipe off the scuffing with RainX to bring the same WriteRight back to brand new condition.

The Rain-X does do a good job of rejunevating old WriteRights, but I was wondering about something. On the Rain-X bottle, it says that the company doesn't recommend using Rain-X on coated plastics, like UV,tinted, or Scratch resistant plastics. Will using Rain-X on a plastic Visor be bad for it in the long run, or is it OK? Maybe someone with more experience with Rain-X can let me know if there are any problems. Could someone explain to me how Rain-X can help a screen protector? I just know that when I apply some Rain-X on my windshield, I basically don't need to use the windshield wipers. Or so they advertise.

I don't have experience with rain-x on my screen protectors, but the idea behind Rain-x on your windshield is that it fills in any micro scratches or pits on your windshield leaving it super smooth so water just rolls off.

It seems like a good idea for visor screen protection too, I just haven't tried it yet.

I never wipe the very edge of the screen, only the affected areas; so I never touch the Visor itself. And since, for the last couple of weeks, I've had the TapPad overlay on the Graffiti portion of the silkscreen, which is where the majority of the scuffing would take place, I'm only wiping the areas that get tapped or stroked occasionally.

I've been using transparency's since I got my BVD. And i didn't even spend the time/money to do the proffesional job that Fahim did. Just hacked out a rectangle aprox the right size then trimed it.
