-- Any golfers out there? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=8971)
This was originally posted as a reply to ToolkiT, but I thought the subject was worthy of a thread of it's own:
Hi, ToolkiT. You hit on a subject thats as close to home as a Visor. Maybe closer!
I just picked up golf this summer myself, and I'm hooked!
I figure that it's a cheaper mid-life than a Corvette. I've been reading golf books, listening to golf CDs in the car, subscribed to Golf Digest, and picked up a book covering all the courses in my city. I've even done the unspeakable...watched the Golf Channel at midnight!
(insert prayer for me here)
I just finished reading M. Scott Peck's "Golf and the Spirit", and am working on Bob Cullen's "Why golf?". Both are very good books that explain how golf gets into your bones.
That Intelligolf module looks very good to me. But then again, maybe a combo of the Intelligolf software combined with a GPS module to track my yardage on each shot. Now we're talkin'!
Of course, I'll have to get the Tiger Woods module for those "office tournaments".
I know, I know. The next phase is: Hi, my name is Mark, and Im a golf-geek.

It is obvious from that statement that you are new to golf. Just wait. New clubs, greens fees, cart fees, more new clubs, lessons, more fees, new clubs, more fees, tournaments, more fees, new clubs, etc. Not to mention acquiring the proper attire or the membership fees/dues to a club once you are really into it.![]()

Sometimes I wish that I had just bought the Corvette!!

Do files get embarrassed when they get unzipped?
Well, I must admit that I also goined the golfing craze this summer while at my house in Michigan. Out there it's much cheaper, but in Boston it cost an arm and a leg. Now my golfing has been reduced to whenever I can sfford to play, and considering I'm a HS student, that's not much.

Yes, deer.
I went out this weekend and noticed that there were deer tracks running across the 12th green. I blame my missed putt on those darn deer.
We arrived at the 13th tee and sure enough there stood a doe and its two fawn. They stood not more that fifteen yards from the tee box. They steadily munched the fairway, seemingly unaware of my foursome. They have apparently grown quite accustomed to strangely dressed men, riding in little cars, and carrying sticks. I do believe that the only thing that would cause them to flee their grazing is if someone yelled fore.

Last night at Target I found the one essential Christmas gift for any golfer - the Caddyshack dancing gopher. It stands about a foot tall, looks like the orginal gopher, and of course dances to Kenny Loggins (spelling?) "I'm alright".
Put it on your golf-geeks list.

Another duffer here.
My main problem is that I stand too close to the ball.... after I hit it.
