Innogear's website now indicates that the much hyped and anticipated Six Pack will never be offered due to circumstances beyond their control.

And you're surprised?

Innogear has been vaporwaring this product for so long I don't think anybody ever really expected them to go market with it.

Well, they say that every dog is allowed one bite. Lets see if they decide to pull a Xircom and almost release another product.

So does the Minijam support non-mp3 files?

So does it? And if it doesn't what is the chance they will actually make the software to load E-books and such? This company had better get it's act together or people will be irked, to say the least .

Gee dequardo, you sure type fast, I just got thru reposting the full (accidentally hit the post button prematurely) post when I saw your response. Actually my question is meant to tie into the fact that the SixPack has been cancelled, if the MP3 player is no longer going to be supported too people will be pissed to say the least. Agreed. Best bet: AVOID Innogear.

I'm glad I gave up on this module a long time ago... I'm still pissed, but not as pissed as I would have been if I'd been eagerly awaiting its release since the original announced date last year. I'd love to know what the circumstances were.

I wonder if the price drop on the MiniJam has something to do with this... an attempt to appease pissed off customers, perhaps. No thanks.

For a while there I actually got to thinking "If the MiniJam ever drops to the $100-$150 range, I might just buy one." WTG, VaporGear! You just brought me back to my senses.

True, no surprise here, except the surprise that some people are actually surprised by the announcement. All of VaporGear's other lies were a bad harbinger to begin with, but the most comical sign of trouble was the Comdex interview, where the VG rep stated something like, "We have a working prototype now" -- this after a year! A prototype? At least VG spared us a little, deciding not to wait until 11:59 pm, March 31 to change the information on the website.

Fortunately, James is right about the fact that most of the functionality of the SixPak is already available. And anyone who claims that it would've been more economical to get everything in a single module -- well, that's the reason there is no SixPak. Xircom is (allegedly) coming out with a cell phone connector for something like $130, which is around the same price as the Thincomm modem. The only decent voice recorder, the Total Recall, is $99. Expecting these three functions alone (not to mention the others) for under $200 is pretty naive.

Sure, some people on the board are going to blow their tops, but at least we'll finally be able to put this extravagant little piece of fiction to bed.

I laughed so hard when I saw that news item...

I promise, I will never, ever... buy a product from Innogear. Not that I want to hurt them, but I believe companies should operate with certain standards and methodologies.

Is anyone in any way suprised by this ? Oh well; no big deal. Like anyone cares at this point.

I'm actually glad. I gave up on the SixPak months ago, when I purchased a Xircom SpringPort modem.

I still had a nagging doubt though - when I plunked down my dough, I remember thinking "if the SixPak comes out in a couple of months, with all the features, at the originally announced price, I'm going to feel dumb for buying this thing."

Thanks Innogear, for making me feel like a genius for my lack of faith in your abilities and honesty.

Too bad the Minijam award can't be recalled

Hi Tim, I agree, the Minijam advertising is just plain wrong, if the Minijam doesn't have a way to load non MP3 files, then they shouldn't be saying that it has this capability. What ticks me off is that the Minijam got an award from Visorcentral, and Innogear still use this award to advertise the Minijam, I wish the award had gone to the Handspring Backup module, at least this module works as promised, even though it's less flashy. Maybe from now on Visorcentral should award things based on currently existing capabilities, not promised capabilities that the Visorcentral people haven't seen on the tested production module. I realize that the Minijam was introduced back when the supply of modules was scarce, so it may have still won an award, but at least Visorcentral wouldn't be a part of someone's bogus ad campaign .

ARGH!

I just arrived home from CompUSA with my new Sounds Good MP3 player when I sit at my computer and check my email. The MiniJam is $70 cheaper for the same amount of ram! Well needless to say I wasn't happy until I check VC's News and saw 'The day The SixPak Died'. Now I'm not so upset I bought the Sounds Good.

What Innogear did was crap. They outright lied about having these things. The Comdex article (11/00 if I'm not mistaken) stated they had a _working_ module. Hello? What's the real problem here? I was holding off buying Springboards because this one would be 'the' one.



BTW, I bought the car adapter for the Sounds Good... SWEET!
