- How To / Troubleshooting (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/forumdisplay.php?forumid=2)
-- avantgo (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=2958)
I downloaded Avantgo to my visor when I first got it and it worked reasonably well. Then I had to do a hard reset because I changed batteries? (even though I changed them within a minute) so I re downloaded avantgo. I chose my channels and when I sync everything says it has worked but my visor does not show the channels, just avantgo's welcome page. Can anyone help??Is there another web browser that is more reliable?
Also everytime I turn on my visor after an hour or so break it tells me i've had a hotsync problem even if I havn't synced for a couple of days. Thanks for any help in advance..
Having gone through this over the weekend, there's a few items you need to check:
- An uninstall of AvantGo/MobileLink on the desktop seems to work better than just reinstalling on top of an existing desktop installation.
- When you do uninstall AvantGo and MobileLink (uninstalling one does not uninstall the other), you should exit the HotSync Manager. This will allow the uninstall script to remove a registry setting.
- If you do not want to perform an uninstall/reinstall, check the HotSync conduits to ensure that the MobileLink conduit is *not* set to "Do Nothing". It should be set to "Synchronize data".
Note: Other than some added time, an uninstall/reinstall, despite being an invasive routine, won't kill your AvantGo channels-- remember, that information is stored on their server(s).
I think the advice to uninstall the mobile link on the desktop is well taken, but hey, avantGo has excellent support. shoot them an email.
As for better browsers, I personally find AvantGo is superb.
