-- What's up with Good Technology? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=16439)
What's up with Good Technology?
They changed their web site and no longer prominently feature their SoundsGood MP3 player. (It's now on a side menu.) Could this be preparations for a new product?
Did you click on the link?
quote:
In its first year of operation, Good Technology shipped an award-winning MP3 music device, the SoundsGood audioplayer, as a Springboard module for the Handspring Visor. The SoundsGood business is now managed exclusively by PalmGear. Now in its second year of operation, Good Technology is focused exclusively on delivering mobile computing solutions to the enterprise.
DUHHHHHH

Nowhere does it mention that the SoundsGood was discontinued. Only that PalmGear now manages it.

...seems like just about everybody and their respective monkeys are focused on that these days...

What does this mean? EXCLUSIVELY - doesnt mean oh but on the side we will make a SG2 and come up with upgrades for SG1.
Gezzzzzzz - they dont even have any press release up or any other mentioning of SG - they dont even have a PR department any longer.
Ok - you devoted ones -- keep dreaming about the SG2 - it wont happen, I told you months ago that I had heard inside info. But its ok, we can continue the wishful thinking of "well maybe Palm Gear is selling the SG1 so Good can have enough bandwidth to launch SG2.
They dont even show the Executive Bios anymore because most of them are gone.
WAKE UP!
TimberLake: Geeze, calm down! And to do quotes use brackets [ ] instead of < >.
I agree that if a SG2 were to come out they would have done it by now, the price cut has been in effect for a long time. Hopefully someone else will step up to the plate and bring us a decent 2nd generation MP3 Springboard.

Timberlake. No one said SG2 was going to come out. SG1 is not a discontinued product if they are still being made. it seems to me that this is the case.
They are not being made - they are being liquidated through Palm Gear
Oh No
If this is the case, then I better grab one before they are all gone!
Why do you guys think that PalmGear is now selling Flash Modules? Well, I think some of the programmers from SoundGood has been transfered to PalmGear to focus only in Handspring Modules. As a consequence the SG2 will be developed by ex-programmers from SoundGood and sold by PalmGear. After all PalmGear sounds like they actually make Palm gear.
Also, I spoke with one of the representative from Good Tech and she told me that she could not tell me anything about a future product and that I have to call PalmGear to ask them about it. How do you think PalmGear is gonna handle tech support of a Product that they have not made.
My best guess is that from now on we are going to see many modules been developed by PalmGear. As we know they have a close relationship with Handspring.
What do you think guys?
Al
PS. I want my SG2 with some kind of FC or SM reader.

I highly doubt PalmGear is entering into its own module development, and as MensaChicken said, I hope they don't. You don't need developers to release a flash module, most likely its just a rebranded Hagiwara module sold for cheap.

Yes,
And maybe CompUSA and Amazon will start building all the products they sell too -- geeeeeeezzzzzzzzzz
Can we call this board "Visor owners in DENIAL?"
Has anyone considered...
That maybe SoundsGood used the MP3 module (which seems like a fairly simple module unless you are Innogear), was used as a cash generator. They were a new company and rather than jump head first into cash intensive R&D that would take years to see revenue from, they start out simple with something R&D light, make some quick cash, and then move on to more abitious stuff.

Actually, I've still got a couple of old Compudyne computers hanging around.
Ok -
You win, I give up. They did not sell enough modules to fund a house full of party animals let alone a company.
They did not do good with the SG - gave it to PG to liqudate, layed off 3/4 of their staff - got rid of their PR etc.... and focased on a new direction to try to make themselves something. The evidence is everywhere.
take this and do what you will
