In First is the Memplug. It taught me how great it is to have every single thing you could ever need in your pocket... With my SD/MMC Memplug I had 80meg worth of palm in my pocket, and there was no task too daunting for me to conquer. I sold my Pro last week and have been living on a T615 with only 16 meg. I am having to wait until tomorrow to get my 128meg card. I never thought it would be this difficult. I am deleting stuff left and right any time I want to add something new... I feel like a lost child when I go looking for a program, only to realize I had to delete it to make room for something else. Memplug is most deff #1!!

Second is the Magellan GPS Module. Worked perfect with Mapopolis. My dad has it now. He has figured out how to hang the Visor from his rear-view mirror so he can follow his route while driving. This is also my second favorite because of the price... I payed $25 for it. :-D

If you want a 128mb MemStick, check out www.ecost.com - they had one on sale yesterday for $49.99 (but shipping is $8-$10)

I like all my springboards: VisorPhone, Magellan, Memplug, Soundsgood, Total Recall

Visorphone sits there most of the time, Magellan when I'm driving/in a new city, Memplug when I want to see pictures or read books, Soundsgood for long flights, Total Recall for notes.

Springboard is the best, I'm gonna stay with Handspring as long as they have new models with the slot. I have already owned a Deluxe and a Pro, waiting for a new color Visor now.

I'll second the backup module. It ain't sexy, but it is *the* reason I went from a Palm to a Visor (back before they included SD slots), and has saved me from *lots* of potential catastrophes. I've had too many hard crashes away from my desktop (like in the middle of the Puerto Rican rain forest), so I won't even consider a device without some kind of external backup (which means the Treo, even the next CDMA/color iteration, is out).

I travel alot and most of the time I don't take my laptop so these things make sure

a) I don't lose everything
b) I stay entertained and relaxed

FlashPlus Adaptor (or, in a pinch, MemPlug Compact Flash version), with a good card reader.

This combo does back-ups (needs software for FlashPlus, memPlug has it built in), holds huge E-texts, expands the memory almost limitlessly, offers easy card formatting and manipulation, etc.

Runners up, for me, are eyemodule2 and MiniJam.

MemPlug, nuff said!

I have the SmartMedia MemPlug, and a 64mb card. On it I have books, games, programs, four translations of the Bible(OT and NT), and it even comes with backup software! It is a Godsend, and I absolutely love it! The 8 mb on my Prism gets filled so fast, and with VFS support on many launchers (I use SilverScreen, great VFS support!), it makes it so much better. You can leave it in and the Visor will still fit in most cases. Only irk about it is that it kinda drains my battery a bit faster. Eh, I'll learn to live with it.

Backup module is in a definite second place. With my old VDX, I had crashes at the worst times (on an airplane, middle of classes, and always away from my desktop). Blame Murphy's Law or something. I always tell my friends with Visors, the first module you get, make it a backup module. It will save your life!

That's my two cents...

A close second would be Magellan GPS. It is a great tool and toy all in one. Plus, it was a bargain! $30 after rebates!

I would join the memplug crowd, the continual improvement of the onboard software by the manufacturer shows the commitment of the company to their product. Let's hope that Handspring continue their commitment to the springboard technology.

During the first quarter of 2000 Innogear will release the SixPak Combo Card, the first "combo card" for the Handspring Visor. The SixPak Combo Card Springboard module will have almost everything that a Visor user could want. SixPak fits perfectly inside the Visor, with only the LED light jutting above the top of the Visor. SixPak will include the following:

Standard Modem - V.90 phone modem connects at up to 56Kbps to phone lines without
the need of any dongle. Faxes can also be sent directly using the modem.

Cellular Modem - External expansion port allows a data connection with Cellular phones while on the road

Voice Recorder w/ Speaker - Records and plays back voice messaged over an integrated speaker

Vibrating Alarm - Silent alert (vibratory) allows for alarms in situations where beeps are inappropriate

Flashing LED Alarm - Visual alert flashes red or green through the integrated HotSync & record/playback button

8MB Flash Memory - Allows for OEM developer bundles, program storage and data backup.

This could be the "killer Springboard" that people have been waiting for. Final pricing has not been set, but the SixPak should be less than $200.
