-- LCD loose? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=3043)
Hi.
I noticed yesterday, that my LCD screen seems to be a bit loose in the upper right corner. When it press with the stylus, it goes down approx. 1mm and makes a light click. Same thing on the left side, but not that much. Nothing below the graffity area though.
Is this normal?
thanks,
trinitron
Don't think so. I was thinking about your question this weekend. I bet the screen has come loose, or one of the plastic "poles" from the case broke off.
On my ice deluxe, I can see two of these poles at the top of the case. One is right above the 'o' in "visor". The other is a bit to the left of the blue leg of the Handspring dude. There are metal prongs on each side of the screen. Each has a small hole in it. The hole goes over the pole, and keeps the screen in place.
Maybe take a small screwdriver and remove the 4 screws, and carefully pry both sides apart. They'll come apart like a butterfly. Then you can look at the inside. Warning: probably voids your warranty.
I had the exact same issue on my Ice VDlx, and I called Handspring for a new unit (which I got today). The depress and click (mine was in the upper-left) was the final straw after the cracking of various part of the case. Handspring was very responsive. I received my new unit in one week, at no expense to me.

Hi there.
I already opened the Visor to see what the problem was. None of the poles you mentioned was broken. The display just slides up and down on them. thats the deal.
I ended up with placing a folded sheet of paper in the back of the lcd, holding it firmly against the back plastic cover. That should work for now.
The reason why I couldn't send it back to handspring is that I live in Europe. Bad luck, heh? So I just have to wait until Handspring comes over here too.
Thanks indeed,
Trinitron
My first Visor, I've had six, had a loose glass in the bottom left corner. I lived with it for a week. When it grew worse I called Handspring. They sent me a replacement. Unfortunately that wasn't my last problem.
