Question

Has anyone tried to work visor on WIN 95? If so how is it going

No go.

Even if you have 'working' USB ports and Win95B, it won't work. It's either Win95/serial cradle or Win98/USB a/o serial.

Do we KNOW that it doesn't work, or are we going on someone's opinion??? I REALLY want to get this thing to work while waiting on my backordered serial cradle.

mctague,

i know for fact that the visor will not work with any flavor of win95. i had 95B on my pc at work and it would not work. once i upgraded to 98 everything worked fine.

Same here. I've got 95B OSR2.1 on one of my systems and 98 on another. 95 won't recognize the visor. Believe me, I WISH it would work so I wouldn't have to face the choice of waiting for the backordered serial cradle or upgrading to 98 (which I've been quite reluctant to do).

Okay, okay, I believe you guys. I was just in denial. I am so depressed about this!

I, like many, don't wanna go anywhere near Win98. Plus its wall to wall NT at work, so even that doesn't help. B^(

I just can't believe handspring didn't have a better plan for non-USB support.

Though at least I do now have my Visor. B^)

If it's the pokey 98 shell and IE integration that bothers you, you might try 98lite. I'm using it on two of my computers (one tower, one notebook) and it's been working fine for months. Basically, it lets you install the win98 kernel and hardware support, but replaces the win98 shell with the win95 shell. I've found the 95 shell to be much faster than the 98 shell.

Oh, the site is:
http://www.98lite.net

I'm not sure whether the newer version is freeware anymore. If not, I could email you an older version. Basically, you just do a full 98 install, run a program, stick in a win95 cd, and reboot.

The visor (and all other USB peripherals I've tried) works fine in this setup.

but does it work win wiin 95 and a serial cradle???

Ok.

If you've got a serial cradle, you can use Win95/98/98lite/NT.

If you've got a USB cradle, you can use Win98/98lite. From what I've read, NT and Win2000 aren't quite ready for prime time.
